So my BIP (defensive) BNS.TO, SLF.To are doing ok, but POT continues to slide today.

Can anyone explain why POT continues to go down?

^Not sure, since CIBC just increased it's price target. I'm tempted to buy-in to POT right now...

edit: bought in at 51.75

i would if i could lol. titan should be out soon; they said mid-end sept. ny? (forgot which location, TO was last week) conference starts today and it should be exciting if they release some news. However, i just noticed that BFS has been delayed until end of dec...

Most analysts saying it's a strong buy. Just found an article from an 1hr ago but doesn't explain why it's going down. Besides the fact it has trailed the market.

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Fails to Capitalize on Price-Target Hike | Market Observations | Schaeffer's Investment Research

Nice!! Great strike price

^Are you holding it long-term? Looking at POT, it seems to fluctuate between $50-60 for last 6 months. I'm looking to sell at maybe 56-57, then wait for it to drop again and re-buy in.

Yep I am looking at holding for about 1 yr. As I see the price go down I am buying more! Although I am getting nervous today with back to back 4% drops.

Can somebody explain the pre/post stock-split prices of POT? Looking at the price chart on Google Finance, pre-split price was $62. Post-split was still ~$60? If stock was split 3:1, shouldn't price be $20?

if you actually looked at it the day before it split on google charts it would have displayed as around $180 (not the $6x.xx). The chart is automatically adjusted after the split.

An example I have would be... me buying shares of citibank at 2.60 back in 2008, and selling it for $39.00 in 2011. If you google finance it back 2 years, you'll see it NEVER hit $2.60 (it was adjusted to $26 on the chart)

edit: there are also two types of splits, POT was reverse split
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_split
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_stock_split

edit 2: I just bought some POT too for a 3-4 month hold to see if it hits the target price

^^. politics. if greece is let go, it will seem the euro state was a mistake. can u imagine the protests and anarchy ppl saying i told u so?

underneath all this is the threat of war within europe if the euro state was abolished

commodities are very good at predicting contraction/recessions. like an leading indicator. please look st macro ecnomics when making commodity plays
oil, coal, copper etc. gold is harder to judge since it hedges on currency use and all the speculative money being put in already

Added some more POT at 50.75, if it drops to below 50 tomorrow, will probably do one more buy.

Good point Lime about commodities being on the leading edge of a recession.

Very nice was just thinking about the same thing. Think I will buy some more as I think this dip in POT is short lived.

If any of you guys can get a hold of it, I suggest watching the documentary "Collapse". It's on the American version of Netflix and may be torrentable, really good documentary that tells you where the real good investments should be made

Almost all my stocks are long-term hold, dividend-paying stocks anyways. If they start dropping even more, I will just add more of them to my portfolio.
