Weekly SPY puts wouldn't be a bad lotto/mini hedge play for tomorrow.

i'd imagine it'll open in the $30-35 range, stupid money - like linkedin, i can't buy into that crap when you have a monster like the goog available (and earning $$$$$$$$$)

i should also say, i fear for groupon, i think they're getting margin squeezed BIG TIME and its not like they've patented the idea... first in market, yes, but that will mean little, long term

I think the stupid money is only a minority, most of the money that'll be in Groupon tomorrow, like any IPO will be day traders/people looking to game the IPO hence the typical huge jumps. JMHO

Ya it'll move big either direction given that the float will be very low.

Their idea not being proprietary/patentable won't be their only problem, their accounting issues will be a big one as well.

Whats the outlook on RIM stocks. I know they dropped, but I know RIM might still have a chance at a comeback. Seeing as how the market still dwindles with people still using or buying the 9900 and other blackberrys

i'm not too familiar with the accounting problem, but isn't it just a net vs. gross issue? that is, they initially said for a $100 coupon that $50 went to the vendor, they showed $100 gross rev, $50 cost of sales, instead they should show revenue of $50... doesn't really change anything, i'd hope any investor would understand the business model sufficiently to read between teh numbers to see what's really going on - but as i say, i've only heard about this 2nd hand, not interested enough to actually look myself

thing is ... would you go back without one?

whats the retention rate?
whats the likelihood of anton doing another one?

thats how you value groupon....

plus theres so many competitors out there its insane
the junk calls i get... just companies in vancouver itself

one can buy grpn for a short term gain here...but man... unless three months from now they have a 'google' type model

opentable is one company i have seen... the guy came in years ago sellling me the product.. i didnt sign up.. next few years he comes by.. i say to him man you must be rich.. company stock going skyward etc etc....

but look at the stock.. its termed a momentum stock (ie pretty girl play)
very iffy...

grpn, nflx, gmcr, hans, linkden

lulu and ua im unsure about... but wouldnt buy... trades only

Bearish or bullish today? Usually Friday's are pretty quiet but could be very interesting today

Plus for Groupon, think how easy it can be for Google or even Facebook to do the exact same thing.

a good read
BBC News - Have daily deal sites like Groupon had their day?

i'd rather own Priceline or Google to have a similar industry/business model exposure as part of my portfolio

Counting down to the confidence vote..

On a brighter note, my liquor stores fund is doing well in such tragic times!

bloomberg is saying people in his party are turning against him.
So what happens if he loses, new government/election?

If he loses... this is the prediction that is the most worrysome...

"If Papandreou loses Friday's vote and an attempt to patch together an interim government fails, parliament would be dissolved and Greece would be forced to head to early elections — a potential doomsday scenario that puts the country at risk of not getting its bailout money in time."
