Hey I hope I'm wrong and the company sells for $2, that's why I own a bunch, but I just feel like in terms of the "odds", the chances of the company making money and growing the share price organically are relatively low compared to some of the other companies we regularly discuss on this thread.

I continue to be very optimistic, I hold NZ and TAG, but I really feel like TAG is poised for some huge progress. They are spudding several wells in the next month and if they manage to find some more producers along with upgrading their infrastructure, they are going to be generating some serious cashflow.

I dont know, maybe I have a different view on it because I work in the oil sands. I think anything oil related is an absolute safe bet, oil is nothing but a money maker. The amount of money spent every day in the mine I am in is mind boggling.

I agree on oil... almost any possible outcome in the world arena... Greece default, US going to war, etc. is only neutral or good news for oil & gas. This week NZ isn't going anywhere but TAG is kicking some serious ass today, new 52 week high. I'm going to hold on for $10, sell, and then hope to buy some back in the low 9s again. But I love that stock in the long term, they are kicking ass and taking names!

Edit - Got cold feet at $9.99 and sold TAG, turns out to be the high of the day.

Maybe a dumb question, but google search doesn't really give me clear answers.

If I am looking to buy crude oil, natural gas, or gold, just the commodity itself, how would I do that given my investment trading account? What symbol, if any, do I type in for a quote?

I am not looking to invest in leveraged ETF where bull/bear will wash out in the long run. I am also not looking to buy stocks of a company that has "close ties" with the particular commodity.

So is this possible under my existing trading account with my bank?

Watch FAS/FAZ videos. ETFs that have inverses of each other that are leveraged will both converge to zero in the long run. I am looking to hold and not day trade.

Got burned with FAZ holdig it for half a year and HOU.TO for 10 months.

Commodity Solutions | ScotiaMcLeod

I used scotia for my investing, I don't know who you use, or if they trade futures.

You wil have a section for equities, mutual funds, and options when logged into your trading account... and possibly some more sections for futures, commodities etc.. when you set your trading account up it would have asked you if you planned on trading futures contracts. Once you are in the section for trading contracts the world is your oyster and the interface will be very similar to standard equity trading.

Icic, I thought you were referring to ETF decay. Your right though and leveraged etfs could turn sour for the inexperienced. I happened to read a blog post a while
Ago that i found pretty interesting, especially at some of the comments : http://matlab-trading.blogspot.com/2011/05/guess-what-leveraged-etfs-dont-decay.html?m=1

I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but I really am stoked for both TAG and NZ in weeks coming. I am out of TAG already but will definitely be buying some more early next week and hold some NZ, would buy some more if the price comes down a little on Monday.

Next well should have some results out for NZ in 2 weeks or so!

I'm going to side with strykn on this one, its a great way to lose a lot of money in a hurry lol.

On a side note, I was holding some CYNO since october and let it go today, made a tidy profit

Is there something more to futures? I simply want to buy some oil right now and sell either July or August. If prices are not good by then, I would like to have the choice to hold it until next summer.
