Market cap is literally calculated as: share price x number of shares outstanding.
If a company had only 100 shares, the share price would be $20,000 per share to equal a $2MM market cap. If it had 1,000,000 shares, the share price would be $2.
However, it is worth noting that market cap is determined BY the share price, not the other way around.

Yeah, I should play some straddles for earnings plays. I like that GS call for Q1. It's a good play to jump on GS right now based on T.A. alone. Although I don't like the fundamentals of GS. The industry group that GS is in has big money coming its way so that's good (Money Center Banks). I'm just worried about the overall market, it seems to be sideways again. Gonna place that in my play money account and see how it goes. I wanted to get JPM in the beginning of the year, but I went backpacking overseas in Jan-Feb so I relinquished my holdings before I left.

There was some significant volume in KBE May 26 calls FWIW.

WFC is in Regional Banks and MS is in Investment Brokerages. Both Industry Groups have Big money going at them. Yet, they're not overbought. Lots of potential in these groups for sure.

Would anybody have any interest in getting together at some point, grabbing a beer and some food and discussing plans of attack?

It's pretty unlikely that there is going to be much good news coming out for April 2 since many of the ramifications of the shutdown will be on this quarter's results, but the next quarter after that should be back in production and hopefully kicking ass!

Hmm wonder if I should wait then, you think the stock price will drop anymore then it already has? Not that it is an expensive stock, but every penny counts!

I don't really know what to expect. I think it's mostly like CLL where most of the "negativity" is already built into the price and an extremely bad report would maybe knock it a few pennies but it's already priced at the perception of salvage value since the general perception is that the company is not capable of operating profitably. If that's the case then a poor quarter just reinforces that but doesn't make anything worse than it already is.
If you are in it for the long haul then ultimately a 5 cent variation doesn't make much difference so I'd probably wait until after the report and hope that it depresses it a bit further and buy then but if it didn't move, I wouldn't be that surprised. YNG is a long shot, but if it works, it should be well beyond $1.00, a triple is no joke. For a more likely but smaller payoff, I would think about NZ and TAO.

Man I just wish CLL hurry up and get a acquisition already, I've been sitting on that stock for too long. I want to free up some capital and move on...
Also, bad time to be in commodity stocks... even K hit a new 52week low (good thing I stayed away from it) I should've diversified onto other segments, but hindsight is 20/20

Ill ride it out a bit. If I see the stock price drop before then Ill buy in, if not wait and see. Im only gonna buy in for a grand, so if it tanks, no big loss.
I hear you on CLL. I want to spread the cash out I have in it a bit.

I think we are all feeling the same way about CLL, the reality is that the economics of the operation don't leave much of an upside. Provided the price of oil stays up, NG stays down, and production remains steady, the figures would suggest the company should be posting a positive EPS... but that's obviously not the case with the earning report... though there seems to be a fair bit of information missing to show how that 59M loss came to be. Until CLL can expand there is not much of a chance that this company will start pulling in big enough money to really justify a long term hold... especially with no dividend... and the economics of CLL as of today don't leave much wiggle room to finance an expansion, especially not with Alberta's current construction climate. The expansion and associated production are the key with this operation.
So where does that leave CLL? And why is the share price holding up? Seems odd...
CLL basically has one of the largest proven producing oilsands leases in Alberta that isn't a giant swamp in the middle of nowhere. 87000 net acres of land is a lot... 350 km/2. Between the cost to buy the land, do the survey, build the facilities, build the refinery, buy and develop the other conventional assets, staff it and build a corporate identity, it would cost far more to obtain all of these assets individually than it would to buy CLL as one package. Toss in the fact that they had someone taking a shot at the company before Xmas tells you that there is interest.. and that's what's supporting the current share price.
And that's why it's tough.. from a fundemental perspective, IMO you would be better to park you money elsewhere, there is lots of good buys out there right now that aren't based around "waiting for the halt"... but that's the trouble, that's when you make money investing, when you don't follow the herd, who in this case have probably long pulled out of CLL.
I think I might cut my CLL position in half again, spread it out as I feel there is some good deals out there (YNG, ROG, FRC, NZ, URRE, POT, etc)... and give CLL no more than a month for some action... I only recently doubled it before the earnings report incase there was good results and spike, I also believed that even with bad results the price wouldn't move too much.. as at 1$/share.. for someone to get this company for 448M would be getting the deal of the century.

yea, I was surprised at how the negative outcome of the earnings report barely made a dent to CLLs price. I think a lot of big players felt the same too, the day before earnings release someone decided to dump almost 2mil shares, and it didn't even dent CLL's price. There is no clear trend that indicates to buy or sell, but rather wait or move on.
I wonder who is buying it up...

Well I moved some money around, felt that YNG and FRC were too cheap to pass up.
On a side note, YNG released some surface drilling results, nothing crazy, but good solid figures for long term strip mining I would say. Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. - News - Wed Mar 21, 2012
