Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. Initiates Strategic Review to Maximize Shareholder Value
Canada Newswire
VANCOUVER, April 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. (TSX: YNG) (Frankfurt Xetra Exchange: NG6) ("YNG" or the "Company") announces that it has initiated a process to explore and evaluate potential strategic alternatives to maximize shareholder value. To that end, the Company has formed a Strategic Review Committee comprised of three members of YNG's Board of Directors and has engaged Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. and RBC Capital Markets as Financial Advisors to assist in the review and potential implementation of such strategic alternatives.

As part of the Strategic Review, the Financial Advisors will undertake a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the prospects and options available to the Company, which may include a sale, business combination, joint venture, merger, acquisition, strategic investment or other alternatives identified by the Company or the Financial Advisors that will serve to maximize shareholder value.

Robert Baldock, CEO and Director, states, "The decision to initiate a Strategic Review process at this time coincides with attainment of our primary goal to turn-around operations and complete refurbishments at our Jerritt Canyon mining and milling facility. With these primary milestones now achieved, this is a natural and opportune time to review all options at our disposal to determine which tactical direction will add maximum shareholder value going forward."

There can be no assurances that the Company will pursue or complete any of the strategic alternatives that are reviewed. The Board of Directors, via the Strategic Review Committee, will review all possible strategic alternatives presented, including the execution of YNG's current business plan, and weigh the relative benefits of such alternatives to shareholders. The Company does not intend to disclose developments with respect to the progress of the Strategic Review process until such time as the Board of Directors approves or completes a transaction or otherwise determines that further disclosure is appropriate or required.

Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. is a North American gold producer in the business of discovering, developing and operating gold deposits. The Company holds a diverse portfolio of gold, silver, zinc and copper properties in the Yukon Territory and British Columbia in Canada and in Nevada in the United States. The Company's focus has been on the acquisition and development of late stage development and operating properties with gold as the primary target. Continued growth will occur by increasing or initiating production from the Company's existing properties.

If you would like to receive press releases via email please contact nicole@yngc.ca and specify "Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. releases" in the subject line.
Hopefully this gets people in on the buyout bandwagon, lots of speculation in the past that they would be a target for takout by some of their neighbors (Barrick or Newmont)

Some more light reading on YNG:

Yukon Nevada Gold

I already hold like 140k shares.. thought about adding more... lol wish me luck.

Jason.. 140k shares and going for more. You go balls deep.

I like this quote “Buy when there’s blood in the streets, even if the blood is your own.” Baron Rothschild

I got all emotional and sold all my YNG shares yesterday...

Spoiler!

Just as a note. They have been having a record couple of months the last couple months as far as pumping oil out of the ground. They were averaging 112,000 barrels a day in Feb. up where I'm working.

Firebag?

I know that the main site (Millennium Mine) has been down almost 80kBBL/day for the better part of a month. The loss of production and poor bitumen prices that is what is hurting Suncor share value right now IMO.

Though those are good numbers for Firebag

The Pad we are working on "should" be up and running by this time next year along with another pad that is bigger. Between the 2 they should be doing close to another 80k+ a day.
They are drilling 2 superpads now which theoretically once done should be doing almost the 80k a day each.

Not a hope in heck I'm selling. CM-3 is already drilled and cased, CM-4 is being drilled as we speak. Flow testing will commence on both immediately once CM-4 is cased and the results will be released together. If either of the two are winners the share price is going to break $4 for sure.

Can anybody explain why gold stocks are being hammered??!! If europe is on brink of recession again, shouldn't gold be considered a safehaven and be going up?!

Gold isn't a safe haven like the grneenback is, gold will go up when there is money printing, easy lending, etc. gold ramp up had qe3 partially priced in, looks like no qe3 anytime soon, which is punishing gold. I'm sure similar factors in Europe and china have an effect on this too.

I sold out of gold over a month ago on this basis, hindsight says I should have sold at $1900, but so is life, still gained a 40% gain (2x levered etf) in a couple of months
