This. It is like catching a falling knife indeed. We're entering the summer season now where it's historically sideways. If you guys wanna make money during this season, learn how to make money on down trending or sideways market.

CPT is wayyyyyy down. I saw it hit its 52 week high, sold it at 1.82, its down to 1.25 again. Wish I had some coin to put back into it. Its getting closer to open. JPM has a LOT invested in it.

YNG 1st Quarter 2012:

Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. - News Releases - Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. Announces First Quarter Results for 2012 - Wed May 16, 2012

Spoiler!

The only thing I would have liked to see is daily total of ore mined, the trouble is that even if they can process 3600 per day, can they mine it? How much of the ore supplied was from stockpiles?

Pretty much in line with what I would have expected for Q1, working out the bugs.. though it would be nice if they could get the spending under control... but at the same time it's money that needs to be spent, and the sooner those funds are allocated to improve production, the sooner they will see some profit.

Connacher Oil and Gas Q1 2012

Pretty happy I sold CLL, pretty sure K2 and WFC plan to run that company into the ground.

Well at the end of the day... I'm still up a whopping 2447$ on the year.

Was going to jump back into FAZ but missed the boat.

Maybe we should start a petition for QE3?

I'm out. Sold my AAPL puts that I held for the last couple of weeks after I saw that bearish confirmation on a hammer candlestick on the DOW. My next play will be 20g's on FB on Friday.

Contingent on it's opening price? They're pegging it between 34-38 but it'll definitely open higher, who knows, might pull what LNKD did on its opening day.

I'm expecting the opening price will be ~ $70 to $80. I'm still willing to buy at that price. If GRPN can make money, so can FB.

It's a long term play for me so I'm not worried about any short term dips. Now when FB becomes optionable

^Yeah, FB is probably going to open higher. People who couldn't get in on the IPO would pile their money into it thinking it's the next Google.

With so many bearish outlooks, it's probably best time to start their "QE3" plan. lol

Then I ask...what was all that money printing called in the past year? QE2 plan B? QE2 BBBO? (Ben Bernake Barack Obama) lol

GRPN is $8 billion dollar company.

FB is going to be valued at $100 billion. Google is at $200 billion.

Google makes in profit what FB makes in revenue in a year.

I rather wait for Twitter to go public and buy that. IMO, Twitter is going to be a very profitable company.

Plus nobody wants to buy a $10 meal valued at $50 but pay $10 for it. lol

Groupon's "deals" been downhill for a long time.

My prediction on FB's IPO.

It'll open at $62, have a 52 week high in the $70-82 range, and settle to between $38-45 in one year. Social media is fickle, and unlike Google, Facebook has not shown an ability to expand it's revenue stream beyond advertising.

Even Google is unable to expand its revenue beyond advertising.

Android and Youtube are only doing so much.

Unlike Apple most of these Tech companies only have 1 revenue stream.

Apple has what? ipod, iphone, ipad, macs, itunes, sooner or later...something tv or something that will be part of our lives.

I wouldn't touch FB as long as Mark Zuckerberg is still CEO.

He is a control freak and so far, he hasn't shown ability to expand revenue/profit effectively for the company. Even the advertisement business didn't really take off without bringing in a former google executive IIRC.

I mean, if one would buy FB at 100B valuation, isn't google a much better choice? it has shown solid performance and growth expectation years after years with diversification into several other ventures (android, youtube, even gmail)

If FB starts to lose steam (say, another social site becomes more favorable by the masses), it's a downward spiral from there (think other social sites before FB and even MSN messenger or ICQ)

Its core business just doesn't show value to me and at 100B with its current state, I'd say it's overpriced.

Google 2012 Q1:
Revenue = 96% Ads

FB IPO Filing 2011:
Revenue = 85% Ads, 15% Platform Payments (Zynga, etc)

I don't think diversification of revenue streams is that big of a deal. These guys are gonna live or die with advertising.

If GOOG makes $10B/yr with $200B mkt cap, can FB make $5B/yr in the future? They made $1B in 2011 with a less than mature business model and high costs.

And if you are expecting FB to become unpopular in the future after gaining 900M users worldwide, you have to apply the same logic to Google Search. What makes it so special? There were search engines before and search engines after. You don't have to move your network with you, so the cost to switch search engines is lower, wouldn't you say? Why has nobody switched?

Short Euro.

Google Search has continued to provide a service that has improved over time but kept its simplistic model approach so users continues to go back them. Other models like Yahoo, Bing, AOL, etc did not work because they never took the time to understand what typical users want. Google search made it easy for people.

As for Facebook, I've seen many people complain about the different changes in layout of their service.

Facebook doesn't have to diversify their revenue stream but they at least have to expand it to justify its valuation.

I bought some Tag Oil this morning at $8.14, down around 10% today for what appears to be basically no good reason... I like the company, they are well funded and have lots of potential upside, I've been hoping for a good entry point and I think this is as good as any. Hopefully I didn't catch a falling knife...
