higher GDP growth and manufacturing growth in China and India? China is the largest consumer of base metals and has continued to be net buyers of gold over the past few years. it may not completely save the resource sectors with the weak economic outlook in Europe, but it will certainly mitigate losses for 2012 if emerging markets are able to facilitate growth in industrial and investment demand

I am so confused... NZ drops 10% yesterday for no reason with TAG only dropping 1%. Today, NZ posts great news, they are only up the same as TAG, 3.5% each.

It's like the market punished them yesterday for no reason and today is giving them no credit for good news...

Mark

WTI @ 86$/BBL.

Oil was in the area of 110$/BBL when NZ was trading around 3$/share, now oil is at 86$/BBL, so oil is trading at 78.1% of the 110$ high, and NZ is trading at 75% of the 3$ high.

75% and 78%.. pretty clear relationship there IMO, tied to the price of oil.

Nice work! I need to get up for market opening when the market is this volatile. Up around 7am and realized I had missed the boat

But depressed share price is because of the additional funding they need to cover the costs that would create major dilution on the shares outstanding.

Unless they can figure a way through that, I don't think Baja is a buy right now.

personal downside target is 1225 on the S&P. should coincide with the Fed meeting in June, where the spy could collapse lower or bounce back.

Thoughts?

Yep. No set backs for now.

Pretty damn crazy though. Almost 10 billion pounds of copper, 7 million oz of gold, and 100 oz of silver.

Anybody in Labrador Iron Mines (LIM.TO) or any iron ore plays? It's getting beaten up pretty bad out there. They did a lot of financing in the 5's and it's currently down to $2.89. Last year they were sitting at $14.50 when the iron ore pricing was still in the 180s.

They're starting their first full year of production now with a growing production profile for the next few years. Management is great, delivering on all of their promises and they are at 50% insider ownership. Great company, but a victim of the slowing global economy. IMO, this represents excellent risk/reward going forward if you have a good long term horizon.

I'm starting to scale back in now.

So, folks...is this just a correction or is this just the beginning?

Edit: S&P futures down 10 0.8% already. Get ready for another painful day on the tsx tomorrow :/

Worst election year ever, good luck Obama.

Obama is being measured on results, Romney on speculation, Obama knows he needs to have the voting population feeling fuzzy about the economic recovery in order to stay in the whitehouse.. so I'm sure it's at the top of his to-do list.

For this reason, I see a recovery coming.

My .02 anyway.

Odds of QE3 are rising

10% drop on YNG this am. Wonder if this is profit taking?
