Glad my RIMM puts worked well for me. I sold early this morning since I thought that RIMM would go higher from its lows b/c the whole market is bullish today. I would have waited until near the end of the session if everything was bear today.

Ulic Qel-Droma 06-29-2012 10:15 AM

lol oil up $6.30 and the days not even over yet

anyone that longed crude oil futures is up 100% per contract today lol.

will068 06-29-2012 11:51 AM

For trolling purposes: go check the AAPL 580 Weekly Calls that expire today. Over 1900% gain at one point. Sheesh.

question is, do we expect a more than 5% movement on the stock price? if so, a straddle may work if you buy an at the money straddle a couple days before earnings...

could be a worthwhile venture - as we have NO idea what they're going to report or their guidance - i'm sure this could be a spark to a big move up or down

An options play would be dependent on how juiced the premiums are and their implied move, so tough to say as we are still far away from the report. Just my rough guess, but they'll be juiced and the reaction in either direction will be relatively big.

So what happens next week? Rally continues? Or its coming back down again?

Yikes well I fucked myself over very nicely with TVIX :)

So now I have two choices, hang on to TVIX and wait.. for god knows how long.. or eat the loses and get back into something commodity based and wait for the sector to recover...

I am very bullish on YNG, and have considered moving the 80k I have tied up in TVIX into them... mind you it's not 80k anymore lol more like 50k.

So does the rally continue? IMO the fundementals just aren't there to support a long term rally, I think the leading indicators have been mixed lately, but mostly negative in the sense that we are clearly seeing growth slow down.. so is it a slow down or a gradual move to a contraction?

These mixed feelings in the market is what leads me to have a lot of interest in gold producers, I don't feel that gold itself is under valued but I do believe many of the miners are.. YNG is priced as a JR right now and it's anything but... but getting into the land of such limited diversity is of course, rather risky.

I took a risky risk on TVIX against the Greek election and the Eurozone.. it didn't work out.. mehhh. Maybe next time :)

Well there is a lot of truth to that statement, chances are I will be getting out of TVIX monday, and moving that money into YNG, SU, and TLM. Back to the land of the long term.

I did some math this morning and discovered that I will still basically be breaking even on TVIX with all the times I bought and sold it... so at least it gave me something to do during the day lol.

shawnly1000 06-30-2012 10:37 AM

TVIX is meant to be an intraday play (scalps), at most am overnighter.

Read back a few pages and you will see I am well aware of this.

Bought into it a couple days before greek election epecting volatility to spike before those greasy Europeans hit the ballots, the opposite happened. Got caught "holding the bag" and figured since I was already so close to the all time low price of TVIX, I might as well just hang tight for a bit...

Like I said, took a risk and didn't work out.

jasonturbo 07-02-2012 05:52 AM

Into HAL this morning for 600 shares... Sold my CYNO for @ +100%, while eating -40% on my TVIX.

Go lick my wounds for a bit on TVIX... I may pull the trigger on another 100k shares of YNG tomorrow...

Anyone holding Sherwinn Williams or KRO?

jasonturbo 07-03-2012 05:42 AM

30k in cash, where do I spend it...???

TouringTeg 07-03-2012 08:25 AM

I don't trust this rally. I am looking at buying TVIX again at the first sign of Euro trouble. Otherwise I am going to sit in cash for a bit.
