Apparently investors are starting to receive a voting package... item #1 is voting on a reverse 10-1 split and item #2 is a change to "Veris Gold Corp"...

From listening to their conference call a couple of weeks back, they said the reason they are wanting to do a reverse stock split, was trying to get into the US stock exchange

According to yahoo. 9:30am.
Economic Calendar: Financial Calendars - Yahoo! Finance

What's your plan for tomorrow Ulic?:)

strykn 09-12-2012 04:11 PM

Might play it with puts but dangerous for this one because good chance of QE3 announcement.. probably will play small position with puts

Ulic Qel-Droma 09-12-2012 11:12 PM

QE3 is highly possible

hm well not sure. im gonna just get up early and keep watching if technicals tell me to enter im gonna enter.

gold is up, and has probably mostly already accounted for QE3.
if they announce it, it will probably spike up and sometime that day or over the next few days return to where it's supposed to be, when everyone takes their profits.

lol, i can just play the spikes, it's a high enough % return for a small bet on a volatile day.

Spoon 09-13-2012 08:04 AM

QE3 feels priced in already :suspicious:

shawnly1000 09-13-2012 08:26 AM

Nvm. I stand corrected.

Geoc 09-13-2012 10:05 AM

Yessir, 10-1 consolidation and name change to Veris Gold, along with a move to being listed on the NYSE MKT exchange.

I'm not sure how I feel about it, it's actually very common that a lot of investors won't engage with the Canadian exchanges and certainly avoid any stocks with a price tag under a dollar.... So it is possible tha this move will attract a new group of investors.

I do feel that at the current market cap there isn't much of a potential downside even with consolidation risk when you consider NAV.. so I'm happy holding. Just waiting for that first profitable quarter to make me feel better :)

See what happens anyway, I'm more interested in Q3 numbers than anything else...

QE3 is good for gold!!

leilomo 09-13-2012 05:21 PM

Yikes, shitty question, especially with regards to small/mid cap mines.

If you like risk and are willing to roll the dice, play in gold land.

If your tolerance for risk is lower, go with silver, it's value is more based around the actual application of silver in the mfg sector... sure some of it's value is solely based on being a precious metal.. but compared to gold the value of silver is far more related to the ability of silver miners to sell their product to secondary producers of various products.

Now having said all that, the way I see it, unless you want to play it risky in gold, you're basically looking at Barrick/Goldcorp/etc.. but I question what sort of gain you might see from these giants.

Risky gold bets there is a huge range of companies lol... seems like half of the TMX.

Unbiased opinion... I can't help you, I personally like/hold YNG because I like that it's not some "hole in the wall" miner drilling core samples and hoping to land on some heavy OZ/T. It's basically a large scale mining facility that relies solely on how much ore it can run through the mill. They have spent the last couple years struggling through major repairs of the facility and are basically just now getting back up to full speed.. hopefully. They have other assets they could sell to free up capital (Which IMO they should do, and focus solely on the Elko mine), the current market cap is IMO well below the NAV and they would be a fairly good candiadate for a buyout from neighbor Barrick.

I did a fair bit of research before getting into YNG, it makes me happy to hold it, and I am very curious on a personal level to see if they can get back to black sooner than later... I suspect they can before the end of the year.

I am also somewhat bullish on gold, QE3 and ECB bailout should support the price of the gold for at least a couple years.

There are so many small cap miners that are sketchy :s

Made a quick buck from my JPM options play from yesterday.

Next plays.

Bearish Play on the RIMM earnings - September 27. I just hope they don't mention even more assets they plan to sell.

Bullish Play on Google earnings - October 10. This shit is guaranteed. I might even go big on weekly options on this one.

Great to hear people making money. :fullofwin::fullofwin::fullofwin:

UUU.TO is a solid name. Low cost producer combined with an improving outlook for uranium in the years ahead will bode well. It just signed an agreement with the UAE for a long term supply agreement. Giddy-up!
