DML is speculative in nature, but if you have the risk tolerance, it is a good play. Some could say that the big producers are waiting for DML to bleed more money, enough for the majors to come in and swoop up the company on the cheap.

I'm more interested in the bigger producers. I bought 95,000 shares of UUU in december because its a low cost producer heading into a very lopsided supply/demand picture at the end of 2013. I had high hopes for this, but it just got offered $2.86/share today. Not good. I had expected at least $5. If shares get tendered at this price, i'll be putting my money in Cameco.

Bottom line, uranium plays should yield good returns this and next year.

Apple is def struggling right now hitting a 11 month low sitting below 500 at $485. For those who dont know this is because they have decreased production on iphone 5 parts because of lack of sales (a rumour but has some truth to it). If they don't exceed expectations on their annual report next week, apple is going to go downhill. Wonder if sales of the iPad mini in china are going to be as strong as being predicted. Anyways maybe its a good time to short apple

Chatter is the price is around 13.50-14, options alluding to a deal; all this is speculative...

Hey all, noob in this stuff here.

I was just wondering. Let's say I have $2000 to spare, what's the safest long-term growth I can get that is most likely going to yield a higher return than a savings account? I have been told to look into Index Funds. Someone also recommended for me to read/understand Three-Fund Portfolio but I don't really understand it much.

I am also thinking of doing this through a bank, and I have never done this. Any things I should look out for? Fees? Retarded shit?

A couple really good index funds to look into:

VTI - covers 3000 american stocks
VCE - covers 100 Canadian stocks
XIC - covers 250 Canadian stocks
XIU - covers 60 Canadian stocks

I own VTI and VCE (plus several others in different markets and of different asset classes). All of them provide good quarterly dividends and have lots of potential for growth. Looking at a google finance chart of VTI, it's released 2.1% dividends since last January 12 in addition to the 14% growth.

$SPY huge buyer of 100k Jan 25th (weekly) 150 strike calls for around 0.17 each (1.7 million invested) expecting big rally into next week!

Could be nothing more than a hedge for short shares :s

What is everybody investing in 2013. Any big ideas?

Personally, I think uranium will have a big year in 2013 and 2014. I'm currently waiting to enter Cameco (CCO.TO) when the price is right.

My interest is in resources. Let's share some investment ideas, feel free to PM me to discuss as well!

Mentioned something about RIMM selling its corporate email service for iphone/android users that can create a new revenue stream.

I have no idea but the photos of the BB10 is damn sexy.

Misek also made the following points on support for BB10: "1) Our checks indicate that the carriers have agreed to volume commitments for the first two quarters post-launch. 2) Our checks indicate that BB10 builds have been raised from 500K/month in early Dec to 1M-2M/month. 3) Developers are supporting BB10 more than we expected. RIM is targeting 70K BB10 apps available at launch."

RIM is also likely to add bring-your-own-device (BYOD) sandboxing, with BlackBerry Messenger on iOS and Android. (rumours of bbm for enterprise users and not for regular bis)

How much higher you think it can go? Are you holding throughout the product launch?

Im going to hold rim for the majority if not all of 2013. I think we will be seeing many analyst follow suit by raising their valuations of rim up until the launch on jan.30(bunch of bangwagoners-analyst dont know anything in my opinion). This will most likely propel rim around 17 dollars before launch. What people don't seem to understand is Rim only has to be moderately successful to be profitable, and is coming in to take third place in the mobile market. Analyst have only predicted them to sell 4 million units per quarter(they have 79million users!) and they are going to shatter those sales numbers. Even the great peter misek is changing his opinion on Rim. Take into consideration this guy was the biggest basher of Rim, and biggest Apple dick rider. As of right now, there is 130 million shorts right now(i think some covered today), and even they cant hold Rim stock down anymore. Once the majority of them start covering Rim is going to go through the roof! Like i said back in Nov of 2012, Rim will be at $40 or more+ by the end of 2013 and i am sticking with my prediction.

It's definitely intriguing what is occuring with RIM
I would recommend a stop loss for whoever is already up on the stock
Additionally, I'm thinking of getting into apple if it drops a little bit more

Tomm, might be your chance to buy apple if they report below expectations. However, they would have given out a formal warning if they had bad numbers to report, especially with all the bad press going around.
