I bought put options yesterday. I have a feeling they didnt do so well with their new z10. ceo sold most of his shares, new HTC one phone came out with good reviews,

Samsung news, and with competitors presenting out next generation products in the spring it might not look good for blackberry.

Most of the app developers are awaiting to see how well it sells before making a decision to develop apps, but blackerry isnt releasing any sales numbers yet.

I can see this company dropping back to $10-$11 bucks a share in the next 3-4 months. but then agian, maybe they will do well with their qwerty keyboard and they can rebound.

question on questrade TFTA. If I transfer $5500 from my ing TFSA to questrade, is that consider a withdraw contribution to my annual TSFA even though is from tax free to tax free?

I want to take more risk, or gain with my TFSA considering it has been at 1.5% for the past 2 years!

If you do a direct transfer it wont be considered a withdrawal and won't affect your limit.

There might be a fee involved though ($1xx), check ING/QT.

Friday-Monday Effect During $SPX Trends

There is a good correlation between up trending markets and a positive close on Fridays. Since the start of May through today, down weeks end almost always end with a down Friday. The reverse is also true: up weeks end with an up Friday about 75% of the time. In the chart below you can easily see the correlation.

Another effect is also taking place: Fridays and Mondays tend to alternate direction. Thus, over this period of time (n=42 weeks):
When Friday is up (n=25), Monday is down 75% of the time.
When Friday is down (n=17), Monday is up 65% of the time.
In an uptrend, beware of down Fridays.

Even more so, in a downtrend, look for a strong close on Friday for a possible start to a reversal.
Uptrends tend to have a positive close on Friday; down weeks tend to have a negative close on Fridays
fyi, just interesting info.

also for you forex traders:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-0...des-uk-aaa-aa1

an interesting chart is.... pull up spot or continuation chart for pound. switch it to weekly. we're just starting to break down of a 5 year consolidation right now. it could be a very good short. super trend down!

I'm going to be watching the pound very closely next week.

Ulic Qel-Droma 02-24-2013 07:29 AM

This person has been right quite often. I take anything she says into heavy consideration.

the more risky guys are already short.

the more cautious trader will just take this as a warning signal and watch for a confirmation.

This past week SPX got all the way up to 1530 with some other indexes like TRAN hit 6000 and NYA hit 9000 to the perfection.

Over this week we got all the way down below 1500 which was quite a big move to downside and showed us that the bears is alive. Friday we got a retracement which imo is a “lower high” before the next drop.

If we take a look at some major events coming up this week(starting today):

1. Italian elections (MAJOR event) as it will tell us where the euro will be heading and euro goes down , more downside in mkts. I think there is a good chance mkts will be disapointed with the results , but we should see more of this already Monday.

2. Sequester debate talk this week ,, should be very intense and I think there is a good chance that they wont reach a deal before 1st of March ,, this should also spell trouble for mkts.

3. Then we got a lot of economic numbers too which can move mkts in either direction.

4. On the hourly chart ES futures I’m seeing a clear top “hs pattern” this indicate a move down to 1460-1470 next week , so I expect sell off to reach this target sometimes next week.

5. Euro looks like going lower to 1.29 short term target , had a bearish hs pattern with this target.

6. EWP Spain looks like a clear topping pattern, so expect som bad news in EUROPE near term.

7. NYSI still on a sell signal , nothing bullish there , bears in control on this.

Conclusion: All in all – we can say that bears have taken control again finally , even with the mini “bounce” on Friday after the first big drop this week. I think with the coming events this week, this could be a HUGE week for markets ,, what I mean is that bears could really strike hard this week ,, on a break below 1500 this time would target 1460-1470 and even then I think we could go lower than this.

So my analysis tells me that this week could be quite brutal for bulls especially if we break 1500 near term.

I think she's jumping the gun when she says the bears have taken control, but she definitely has reason to believe it could be a start.

strykn 02-24-2013 12:07 PM

Bears not even close to in control but could very well this week ( Sequester, Euro, and Bernanke's testimony to Congress) Big money to be made on acting & reacting fast this coming week for sure.... key point the bounce on Friday was larger than I expected but the volume was a fucking joke markets so fragile not going to take much to make it poop

Hello all, newbie here!

I've developed a certain interest in stock trading (been practicing how to trade stocks using howthemarketworks.com for a couple of months now, and learned how stocks work back when I took my Economics12 classes in highschool).

I have a relatively good amount of cash sitting around and before I actually start dumping money I'd like find out more information on how stock trading in general, how to pick out relatively safe stocks, weeklies, options and all of that sort.

Can some of you veterans direct me to some online resources for information and any books/articles I should read? I'd like to have a relatively broad and extensive knowledge of how everything works before putting actual money in

First tip...avoid options until you've got a lot more experience
