BTE and CPG is a good buy. I'm holding onto them as well.

Can you tell me why you think BTE and CPG are both good buys? I would just like to see your thought process behind it. Preferably a technical analysis. Thanks!

-thinking about buying an oil price related ETF, "Bear" now that oil prices are falling.
Anyone buy this ETF before? Horizons Pro ETF Bear (HOD on the TSX).

| http://www.etfs.bmo.com/controller/i...file_pdf_74668 BMO S&P/TSX Equal Weight Oil & Gas Index ETF - Equity - BMO Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)
I'm looking at getting this one soon maybe.
- lower MER than HOD.
- Canadian companies that I've actually heard of before (Enbridge, Transcan, Suncor)
- Canadian companies... so easier for tax purposes
I've been pretty balanced with my portfolio lately - haven't liked predicting economic movements for a while now, but these oil deals are very tastey looking...
Alternatively you can also just buy VCE which tracks the Canadian market which has a 25% weight balance on Canadian oil/gas companies (& 40% on Canadian financial companies). Gains might not be as good though, but still well balanced!

what gaming companies?
EA? Activision? or gaming as in casinos?
Man oil companies are so tempting right now. I don't really care about small oil companies but im looking at chevron, exxon, BP, halliburton. Maybe suncor. But im still gonna wait it out a bit longer.

Analysts will tell you slow down in Macau yada yada yada. Make a visit and take a look with your own eyes. China gamblers can't lose money fast enough. It's in their culture to gamble. To see a smaller subset and extrapolate it to Macau, look at Hastings Racetrack or any Gateway and Great Canadian casino.
In USA and Canada, table minimums are $10 but there are times when you can find $5. In Macau, $500MOP which is about $50/per hand. There is a slow down in VIPs as the China govt is smart, look at Macau visits and you'll weed out your corrupt officials quickly. Casinos with heavy Macau exposure are going into other areas - Russia, Japan and Philippines.
Gambling is illegal in Japan but you have pachinko which circumvents the laws. If you legalize and tax it, all the Japanese visitors (chinese) will gamble their heart out. With the Philippines, you have a disproportion portion of the female population that travels abroad for work remitting money to support their families. Where do you think their deadbeat husbands go with the remittance money? Terrible. Russia and gambling is to take advantage of the Northern Chinese who may not want to travel to Macau (Southern China) to gamble. The gambling guys are smart, follow the money.
There's a HK company with a $3B mkt cap for recently securing the casino license in Saipan. $3B for a piece of paper. Looking into the gambling realm. So long as China continues to mint their millionaires and allow their people greater travel discretion, money will continue to pour out.

Does anybody know much about Pharmacan Capitlal? They're supposed to be going public on the TSX this week. It seems like a more diversified way of getting into the medical marijuana market rather than just investing in one producer. Are medical marijuana stocks still a good investment or has that shipped sailed?

Put some money into my Robinhood account. Still trying to figure out what stocks I should buy. Still doing a lot of reading before I start investing haha.
Anyone have some good beginner material to read (been trying to get into stocks for the past few years but I'm finally going to start this year)?
