Oh boy ... don't check your portfolio today :okay: Or, good time to buy! |
|
I wouldn't bet the farm on one day, but I am certainly using the opportunity to add to my unhedged US S&P holdings. Dollar cost averaging in periods like this definitely adds nicely if you have a long time horizon as my fiance and I do in our RRSPs. -Mark |
Ouch... lol... oh well, I'm doing the DRIP method for the past few years. No time to keep track of everything anymore. Just log in every 6 months to re-balance. |

but I thought it lead up perfectly to this week equity sell off. All the speculative play starting crashing for "no apparant reason" crypto was first, speculative industry like marijuna follow. Billions of money left these market. Than comes the real equity sell off. Fund always sells off their speculative plays first. Big money shifting shit around. |
Anyone here have ridiculous amounts in their TFSA from speculative holdings? Imagine having like $200 - 300k in your TFSA with high dividend stocks :ahwow: so much tax free passive income. |

I've seen tons of $100 - 150k from investments in tech over the last couple of years. What's his holdings now at $450k? I wouldn't even want to withdraw from a TFSA at that point. I'd milk those massive compound returns for life. |
I'm guessing marijuana stocks. |
Yeah, he's all in Marijuana |
Marijuana stocks suck so much rn. Hype train died down. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
Largest Holdings at the moment are lRCX, BABA, APPL, SQ, M, SBUX, DIS and Botz. |
RIP stock market. All I see is red, yet I think it's a prime time to average down Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
I don't even want to check my stocks. I'm heavily invested into weed... |
Lol down like 10% over the last week. Which is good if I had more money to average down. |

Currently up 86% for one of my stocks, I think it can hit 125% or 100%, but this is the greed speaking to me. Logically it makes more sense to sell half at legalization, and hold half to ride future profits. Or I could just cash out at 100% gain, and buy an e46 m3. Struggles. |
Nothing wrong with taking gains. I think the next big bull run will be initiated by the banks. |
Any thoughts on a DIY portfolio using platforms like Qtrade or Questrade vs. an actively managed Financial Advisor? Those commercials about advisor fees got me thinking. Last year, my fees were like $2K. I have a financial advisor who uses primarily mutual funds, thinking of switching over to self-directed. I think I've read and learned enough about building a balanced ETF portfolio and some long term stock investing. With easy platforms, I could literally put my $$ in the same funds (eg. Trimark, AGF, Templeton) as my current portfolio under my current advisor and save the middle-man fees. In my mind, ready to switch but emotionally a bit hesitant since I've had one for like 15+ years. Not looking to get rich overnight ... I'm looking to invest and save over long term approach. |

Lots of good reading in the investing forum of RFD if you have time. I think the couch potato thread might work for you. |
Got owned by SBUX and LCRX, both making about 17% of my portfolio. Debating if I shoulder average down my Square as it's almost up 100% making up 12% of portfolio. Market is still hot this year, currently at 19% YTD holding about 50% in ETFs. On a bright note, hopefully meet my goal of maxing out my TFSA by December. Then E46 M3 or S2000 time :sweetjesus: |
Fucking called it m8. I was saying, "Just watch me see all red tomorrow, and the entire sector goes back down." Should have realized those gains :( |
How much % did it drop by. I can't hold too much speculative stocks. Can't handle the 5 to 15% swings every week lol |
