I've stopped penny trading (used to swing pennies for a few weeks at a time, or day trade) - pennies can go bankrupt in this market. I'm looking at bigger players now that will rebound. Nothing volatile. People looking at Pharma and stuff is too late. Think about what people will need in the recovery now... |

BMO on the other hand is down like $30 in the last month...that would seem like more of an opportunity for better upside when things start going back in the right direction |
Anyone in the cruise sector care to shine a light? Namely NCLH, RCL and CCL. I think the drop is a bit overblown. And both RCL and CCL offer a decent dividend. And being the big 3, from a quick glance on their financials, they should have enough capital to weather this storm. Any comments before I dump money on their shares? |

I haven't looked recently, but I get the exact payout amount as specified. It does not show any extra taxes or US taxes on the information page. Unless the value is already reduced on the information page that shows the dividend amount. |
From what I read, US stock dividends are still taxed by US laws. My Apple dividends were taxed automatically within my TFSA. |
That's correct TFSA is not recognized by the US, RRSP is though. |
Get ready for more dumps tomorrow. Futures all down. Trump address was a total waste of 12 minutes. |
Personally I would buy back when you start seeing positive forward guidance from companies. $100 Tommorrow will be another circuit breaker day |
Another +\- 1000 tomorrow. Gonna be down for a while. Maybe till Sept when qrt results r announced. Provided this dies in June |
All my gains in my RRSP/TFSA, the stuff I thought was conservative/safe ain't so anymore...Reds all day..... |
^ market was due for a major correction anyways. It was expected, just timing and reason was different |
Too much pessimism in here. :fuckthatshit: Anyone waiting to go in big? I missed my opportunity in 08 (didn't have any money fresh out of college) and I'm sure I won't miss this time around. |
^ i cashed out earlier last year and holding cash in rrsp. Gonna jump in, in a few weeks |
I personally think the bottom will be in a few weeks when the US hits the panic button and declares a state of emergency over the coronavirus. Either the 23rd or 30th since weekends have been particularly very bad lately. |
TFSA is not recognized as a tax sheltered account in the USA. You will still get taxed 15% withholding tax from the USA. I hope everyone invests monthly. If so, you should be buying monthly regardless. Say you buy $500 a month. Keep doing that, that shouldn't change. The only thing that should change is if you have more cash lying around, consider putting $700 or $800 this month. Don't go crazy, this market is going to be volatile, but these are better deals than before, just expect the market to continue to go down. We've been on a 12 year bull run, there's a higher probability the market will go down. Just keep investing like you normally would, but if you have some free cash around, put it in. If you're thinking you can make a quick flip, you're a market timer, and that rarely goes well. Unless you have that apetite, don't do it. Just put a little more away and keep doing your daily routine. I'm waiting for Dollarama to drop below $35, i've been waiting for that for awhile. Hoping to finally get into it. |

That's when the bottom will be in. But like peanutbutter said, best to stop reading and investing so much time and just set a monthly figure and invest that. |

i'm buying all the way down. nibbled yesterday, took a bigger nibble today. i will continue to do so every few days of big losses until i'm out of cash. if the market goes down for longer than that, then so be it. |
This is our chance to make REAL long lasting money while young. I didn't have enough capital back in 08' but here we go now! I'm going to borrow up to 300K all the way down as well. |
you're borrowing money to invest? if there's a list of things not to do when investing, that would be near the top. good luck to you sir. |
I've maxed out my TFSA and down $12K in weed. Not sure if I even wanna take any chances in anything else right now, even though there's so much uphill growth down the road once this virus phase is moved on. |
