Thought I lost 30k when I logged into my account last night but just haven’t had my new shares transferred in... lol

They should probably do a pop-up in the app explaining the split like they do in the regular website

Really don't want to sift through the history of this thread, but curious what brokers are you guys using?

I'm thinking of switching to Interactive Brokers later on so I can fund and withdraw my account with both Canadian and HKD but as of now I am using SoFI and TDAmeritrade, both with $0 commissions but piss poor margin rates.

IB is going to have the best margin rate in the business. If you trade on margin, do options and/or trade in oversea market. IB is the best hands down.

But it also has the most user unfriendly interface. Their desktop app give you flashback to 1997

Anybody keep track of volatility, VIX VXX etc?

It has been steadying creeping up since mid August along side the index. In a regular bull market as we trend up. volatility trends down. This is not happening right now and it is move in sync with each other.

This usually ends in disaster for one side.

The last time this happened was in March right before the crash. Vix creeping up with the index which resulted in the flash crash and a historical spike in VIX.

Of course this is just based on what happened in the past, might or might not happen this time but it is certainly concerning.

threezero 09-03-2020 10:09 AM

Here the sell off. Market maker dumping their position on retail as euphoria is at all time high.

The volatility index has been flashing warning signs for weeks now.
Let’s see when the dust settles...

Two weeks ago you were happy you kept your TSLA stocks at $2000, and now they are at $2000 and you looking to sell? Strange theory.

Hondaracer 09-04-2020 09:55 AM

Good tech and Semi conductors will ride it out. If you’re holding quality I’m not too worried.

Yeah, I think the worst thing you can do is letting emotion get into the way of investing logically.

Tesla has not changed in any fundamental way. I actually added another hundred shares at 383 today. Patiently waiting for SP500 news and Battery Day.

Of course, if you are satisfied with your profit and don't want to ride the rollercoaster, by all means, sell it. :)

I'd ride it until it hits 1T one day.

This is also a great spot for institutions to dump their long time holding on to the retail players. the only role retail investor serve in this great game of stock market is to provide liquidity for the big boys.

Market might be bullish in the near term but wouldn't be surprise if we see 20-30%+ flash dump/correction in the not so far future

20%+ drop in both TSLA and AAPL since this. The big boys playing retail like they are fools…..

Softbank and other have been expose for playing with near term call option forcing market maker to hedge by buying more stocks.

Even with this tech sector is still massively overvalued. Buying it here is banking on the manipulation and speculation to continue.

Stock market is no longer investing, its just straight up gambling FailFish

WutFace TSLA 19% crash.

Anyone take this as an opportunity to buy more shares?

Friend of a friend of a friend is now on suicide watch. Made 200k in options trading over the past few months, over the last week, lost 700k, wife is threatening divorce

But if it’s option, he can always choose not to execute it. The most lost you could have is the premium. Unless he forked that much in premium.

Hondaracer 09-08-2020 12:19 PM

have a feeling TSLA may fall a bit more this week.. i may get in if it does..

Honestly i dont love it as a company but i think there is value in the dip

FWIW, TSLA is back to $1655 pre-split. Before the split announcement, it was around $275 post-split.

I think at this point, the only way it'll keep going down is if the rest of the market goes red. Can't time the market, so you just have to trust your gut.

It'll eventually just meme its way back up to $420.69 anyways.

This is the classic outcome of the "every housewife/realtor/sales guy is now a too cool for school day-trader/options-writer". Exact same thing happened in the peak of Bitcoin hysteria.

The markets are meant to create reasonable long term growth in a sustainable way through time in market. Trying to create meaningful wealth in a short timeframe is just straight up gambling, and like gambling, usually the individual loses when the odds catch up.

I think the huge dip with TSLA just magnifies the importance of setting up a stop loss especially with a stock such as TSLA which could swing hugely. @sonick hope the guy didn't sell naked calls or some crap

Sounds like he used margin and sold for premium or did credit spread....
