They will just open a big can of worms.

They are saying this because they want to stabilized the temporary shorting of Freddie and Fannie earlier this week.

I somehow figured that too, although I did not expect it to say the opposite after 2 days.

Good job at restoring investor confidence SEC:thumbsup:

I am glad that Gold bounce back from $952 earlier this morning.
GG did pretty good, at least I expected a down day for GG. That kept my winning streak going.

wouwou 07-18-2008 07:37 AM

I am not gonna trade anything today, just to keep my streak too :D

man, after reading and doing some research, margin accounts are the only way to go.

i love the danger associated with it. playing on the edge is awsome.

i gotta do a little more homework before i open a margin account for forex and commodities.

is anyone keeping up with SIRI? It seems a merger with XM is FINALLY going to happen and as such it's been having a pretty nice climb from it's low of 1.83. I got in at 2.10, hoping it's gonna fly.

The merger rumor has been around since early 2007. I hope it will happen so I can finally buy a satallite radio which has ALL the XM and Sirius channels in one.

looks like another blood bath for the longs tomorrow.. Hope no one holds AAPL through earnings today :p Looks like Tech is the next to sell off with 3 huge disappoints from GOOG, MSFT, AAPL..

Yea.. gonna get some Apple very shortly. Usually Apple sells off in July-August timeframe and rebound nicely during September-December timeframe.

Bad earning by American Express... they will drag down Mastercard and Visa too.
Good thing I took my profit last week when it hits $290.

My take on AAPL is, dont move unless Jobs's health condition is clear. If there is one company that needs its leader bad, it's AAPL.

A rumor of him being sick can sink AAPL by 10%.

I might pick something up at 140 give or take, and yes, I am greedy.:D. In all fairness, AAPL did great the past quarter, the next quarter is just gonna get better with Iphone added to the mix (older gen Iphone sold out shortly into the past quarter. Performance driven by Mac and Ipod). AAPL is known for conservative outlooks, so I am not too concerned with it.

haha, well i've been studying with a commodities broker and forex broker for the past month or so.

today i finally decided to dip my toes in the water...

i made 800USD trading crude oil and nasdaq.... of course with play money :(

i'm pretty sure in a few more weeks of doing this I'll put down real money.

of course, i coulda easily lost just as much. we'll just have to see how well my method works, and how much discipline i have.

how long did u guys play the markets with fake money until you used real money?

i'm trying not to use real money till im confident in my method. i figure if i have one doubt about my method, i'm just gonna end up gambling instead of "trading"

Ok, let's get one thing clear: it will ALWAYS be gambling with future in present day. Future is no longer a risk hedging tool, but a speculative tool. Even with the best method you can find, you will only increase the chance of you being right and if some crazy asshole with deep enough pocket decides to go the other way, puff you do.

Write down a REALISTIC range of win/loss that you are comfortable (we all want to fuck 20 times in 1 night, but come on) with and stick to it like your dick depends on it, and don't let your greed get to you, bet on what you are 90% sure of.

Best of luck man:thumbsup:

^ haha very good post.

Ulic, I got very lucky when I started out but I ended up losing a lot after getting my feet wet. Now I am the comeback kid lol. I would paper trade for a least another month or more. I know you are hungry but don't get too excited because your emotions will get the best of you. You have your whole life to trade so it's best you learn/ practice as much as you can before taking the leap and potentially losing your important capital.

You don't want to pay the markets too much tuition.

Who would you recommend setting up a margin account with? I would like to take advantage of investment opportunities with BAC

Got in GG for 45.01 @ for another 50%, with stop at 41.5 till tomorrow in case I cant get up.

I have absolutely no faith in GOOG right now so I didn't even touch the options table. Econ downturn has been happening for 6 months and it should reach GOOD by now. If it turns out to be good, then it means I am gonna stay up AGAIN for C and another shot at FNM tomorrow.

Curiously, Dimon's word of cautions is completely ignored and JPM is trying to break through 40, FNM trying for 12 but fell back to 10.8 without any underlying improvement. I believe the market is due for an adjustment from the short covering and speculation soon.

My portfolio leans towards crappy performance/pull back, but I am hoping for good news.

I am browsing futureshop.ca now and sipping on a bottle of delicious OJ :D

I have an extra $5000

yeah man of course, i have a daily target range that is reasonable.

ok, a lotta people have been telling me some dude with deep pockets can make the market swing the other way, but if that's true, why doesnt the middle east control the oil markets then?

like drive the prices straight the fuck up into space. they have trillions of dollars, why can't they just corner the oil market? i'm sure they have enough money to.

like those dudes in the 70's from texas, forgot their names. them and some arabs and a buncha other rich dudes cornered the silver market.
