like drive the prices straight the fuck up into space. they have trillions of dollars, why can't they just corner the oil market? i'm sure they have enough money to.

like those dudes in the 70's from texas, forgot their names. them and some arabs and a buncha other rich dudes cornered the silver market.
Who told you they are not?

It is not an unusual concept that had not been speculation, oil price today will be $90 tops.

What's a good virtual site to try playing stocks with play money??

Which brokerages are you guys with? Also for Credential Direct, if you have an account but don't trade, are there monthly fees associated with it?

there arent fees associated with an account...brokerages make their money off the transaction (trades) fees.

^ Thanks.

I'm guessing all brokerages would have the same ability to buy virtually any stock on stock exchange... or are Credential Direct or Quest trade limited to... let's say, stock on the TSX and some can only buy on the NYSE, etc...

I'm 21, wish I would've gotten into it sooner... think it's pretty late to start?

Investorpedia I believe also has virtual trading.

I am with Credential and they do not charge monthly fees although I have heard of some online brokerages doing so.

it's never too late to start...just don't jump into it thinking you'll make millions. be sure to do your research and learn about trading before you actually start

Damn! Gold getting a beating over the past week or so.
I sold GG at $38.11 today. Took my loses because I think their earning will not be great due to high oil price last quarter and lower gold prices.

I loaded up MA (MasterCard) today at $264. I think they will beat their earning easily tomorrow morning. We'll see how VISA do aftermarket. Wish me Luck!

Good luck man, I think MA will do pretty good this Q.

If one thing is for sure, it's how Americans love to spend money they dont have

One thing that attracts me buying MA before earning is their international market.
Weak US dollars will lead to higher profit from Euro and other currencies.

Hoping it will bounce good tomorrow. I got LOTS of MA shares.
As in Gold.. I don't know... not much faith in ABX and GG earning tomorrow.

I agree with the profit, but what worries me is the outlook for the next few Qs and Y, from past experience good earnings will do squat if they come with a weak outlook, eg, AAPL and MSFT.

As for Golds, ABX hedged like crazy, while GG is 100% unhedged, with the past oil levels, neither of them is good so I am not getting in this week.

Like a lot of people, I wanting to start on trading stocks as well.

I have an application pending with Credential Direct already.

Any recommended books or articles that I should read up on? To be honest, I have no clue on where to start or what to do. =/ Anything would be a big help. =)
