Started the process to transfer from the group RRSP to a personal RRSP account. I think as long as I stay away from pink slips and risky stocks il survive.

Last year's return was 20% as I just checked my statement. But even this is well below everyone I know.....

Going to go with VFV, Canadian banks, one REIT, and maybe a couple "blue chips".
Any other suggestions to look into?

Thanks everyone

i'm in the same boat, i've had money with a fund manager (not CI investments) for FAR too long now and every year i mean to move it out. I good chunk of money with them and it's getting me squat for a return.

hell even my work RRSP funds got 20% last year

RevYouUp 02-24-2022 08:18 PM

Day ended up green lmao, probably a fake bounce though

Funds are finally in my personal account
Rrsp purchases as of this morning,
12% BNS
12% SU
15% VFV
12% SRU.UN

The remaining 49% im holding as cash until the market starts to tick back up, at least for tech stocks

So for clarity... you would rather hang on to your 49% in cash until the tech stocks you want to buy are more expensive than they are today since they ticking upwards? That is called "timing the market" and statistically you are going to be worse off than just putting the money to work and having a longer time invested.

Your rationale is common, but is genuinely is closer to the opposite of optimal. In our clients' portfolios, we are taking profits in areas that have done really well such as energy, and rebalancing the portfolio by buying some of the technology names that have taken a beating but we like in the long run.

I'm curious on why you like SRU.UN - to me, that sector doesn't seem like an obvious choice.

Are you still bullish on wheat or cashed out before this drop?

That's right, I'm timing the market in this instant case.
Only because it's on a downward trend at the same time that I got my transfer of funds. Il buy after a steady 1 week up or so....
Otherwise I agree: time in market > timing the market.
All of these purchases are going to be long term holds.

As for SRU, I'm actually against stocks all together, most of my savings are in real estate.
I thought I would dump some portfolio into a real estate stock, and this one stuck out for no good reason so I bought it. 6% dividend, very stable stock (in B 4 someone rips this stonk apart :drunk: )

Anyone reading my posts, I have no idea what I'm doing with stocks, and only make slightly educated guesses, in regards to the future of my rrsp portfolio.

I hope my posts bring entertainment value, for those that actually have an understanding of the market. peepoClap

With the surging interest in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 ... is Hyundai a good buy? But it is complicated because they only list in Korea (I think), not in the NYSE or TSX.

Copped a bunch of NCLH at 16, right back up again lol

I’m holding far more of a cruise line than I’d like but all my shares have been purchased sub 16, need to hit those 30’s again and dump it all lol

ilovebacon 03-30-2022 08:44 AM

Anyone in copper?

lilaznviper 03-30-2022 01:02 PM

I have one company on copper been going up and down last several months. I just held it and see the long run.

holding onto a couple of airlines to see where they will go.

I am still doing my research, however, I heard copper will be in the trend because of green energy and EVs.

https://ir.tesla.com/#tab-quarterly-disclosure

Tesla Financials came out today.

SMASHED IT. Unreal how they can increase revenues and decrease expenses combined with the worlds biggest supply chain issues we have ever seen. Once we get through this pandemic and figure out supply chain, Tesla is going to be fully unleashed and they're going to be printing money hand over fist.

Guys get on board because TSLA is leaving the station. There is no other company with the roadmap and potential that Tesla has. They are a true growth story. Imagine getting in on Amazon or Google in the beginning. Tesla's runway is still so long, it's incredible. Just do some of your own research and you'll see how much potential TSLA has.

Is it too late to throw something at Twitter?

Razor Ramon HG 04-25-2022 11:34 AM

Well, I got the notification about it, so I guess it is, lol

WTH is happening with Shopify ... it keeps hitting a deeper bottom! Just when people say, it's bottomed out, buy ... it drops another $100/share !!

Twitter.... Long musk can finally pump and dump dogecoin all he wants, all he needs now is instagoogleface

whitev70r 04-25-2022 02:55 PM

Musk may have a shiny new $43B toy to play with but I think his version of 'free speech' will get all the cray cray Trumpsters back on Twitter ... I foresee it going down the toilet.

@ $1,000 a share, you think there's more immediate growth to be had?

I'm a little doubtful on that, Bill Gates seems to be thinking the same, he's apparently been shorting TLSA.

Now that Elon owns tweeder, I'm probably gonna dump some money in.
I don't use or support the platform, but the market does whatever he pumps
I don't believe in Tesla being worth 100$ and somehow it's 1000$

If Twitter is 50$, in two years time, by the time it's pumped on YouTube, Twitter, and whatever other platforms, it's gonna be 500$
