For moisturizers try Garnier fresh...i think its awsome. for cleansers i use proactive so i don't know about stuff in the store....it is essentially all the same so try something for ur skin type: dry, oily or combination. If u don't know what u are ur best bet is combination. also stick towards ones with little exfoliator beads in it. they work the best.

after using the round head tool, u need to disinfect your skin well (beauticians use that electric rod thing that stings a little), then use a pore tightener

tired those strips before, but only once
cuz:
- it doesnt really work to me
- it makes the pores on the nose bigger and bigger!!

Try Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, London Drugs. Look for something like Spectro Jel or Cetaphil.

get some Cetaphil facewash (daily) and Aveda mask -- use the mask about once per week, the stuff is amazing! Increase your daily water intake and try to avoid touching your face...

st.ives mineral face mask and exfoliator.. works magics !!!!

i use the exfoliator everyday though..but jsut lightly .. and the mask 2-3 times a week ... i noticed a big difference after 1 week

look for salicylic acid on the ingredients list. that is the best for blackheads because it is exfoliating

the higher strength ones are in the pharmacy usually in a section they lock up if they are closed.

try to stay away from the harsh beaded exfoliators for example: st.ives with crushed almonds because it is irritating to the skin. i use rice enzyme personally (dermatologica) and i think you can find it at the body store too.

i've always had a blackhead problem but ever since i started using a toner (dr. hauschka) they've pretty much cleared up.

can someone recommend a good toner ?? ^^

melissa576 02-01-2007 09:08 AM

Clinique Clarifying Toner its pink! They have lots of diff kinds of toner tho

Vitamin A cream is an expensive, prescription only method to eliminate blackheads and shrink pores, but it does work.

I'm still pretty lost on what to do with blackheads :(

I was using Biore facial wash to "remove" the blackheads but after like a year of using it; it really has no effect....

Can someone list the steps and the things to buy to remove blackheads Please?(most recommended and most successful)

Thanks~~

The best way is a facial. They have special tools that squeeze pores. Its usually 40 bucks for an hour of total relaxation. Then all you have to do is keep up with your normal skin cleaning program and just get like 2 facials a year.

FatalCloud 04-09-2007 10:08 PM

where's the best place to get a 'facial'? (oh boy, here comes the sex jokes)

melissa576 04-10-2007 09:33 AM

Any local place is fine, as long as you think its legit. I live in New west so i got to Quayside Day spa (now Metro Day spa) and I like it there. If you go to a fancy place like ecotique then you are going to pay more. I pay 45 for mine. Its worth every penny

Bump. Any suggestions other than facials that I can do at home? I've seen the others but I'm wondering if there are new options now.

fa1civic 05-07-2011 10:55 PM

if i have dry skin, should i use a cleanser for my blackheads? Which brands would you guys recommend? I am currently using neutrogena mosturizer for my dry skin and neutrogena rapid clear for my acne. TIA!

BaoTurbo 05-08-2011 12:33 AM

I actually have the same problem right now. I use the 4 in 1 Biore cleanser, then Cetaphil, but there are still some blackheads left at the sides of my nose. As for the top or near, its easy to take care of because they just come off.

What is a Toner btw? I'm really curious

fa1civic 05-08-2011 02:31 PM

In cosmetics, toner refers to a lotion or wash designed to cleanse the skin and shrink the appearance of pores, usually used on the face. Toners can be applied to the skin in different ways:
On damp cotton wool. (most frequently used method)
Spraying onto the face using a vaporiser
By applying a tonic gauze facial mask - a piece of gauze is covered with toner and left on the face for a few minutes.
Users often apply moisturiser after toner has dried.

Wikipedia FTW!
