fuzebox 04-13-2003 12:17 AM

i'll be installing my avc-r in a few weeks, I hope it makes a difference, i really didn't like my ball+spring controller.

update on the car, head is on (went out and bought a 12 point 1/2" socket, did the trick), intake manifold is mostly on, fuel rail is on, I need to pick up a tap for my egt probe for the manifold, new elbow is in the turbo... my buddy says we'll turn the key tommorow night, but who knows.

Enraged 04-13-2003 04:51 PM

well after a spell of complete disinterest in my car, things are lookin better. this week im goin to change the plugs (getting a misfire at higher rpm and sometimes at idle), change the oil (what do you suggest? 10W40? 5W30?), replace the accordian hose (most likely, just have to find out the price), install my JMBC, and on friday, i might be getting Eibachs (only becuase i cant find H&Rs for a good price locally). Im also waiting on Jeff@ss to reply, i might get poly a-arm bushings, i think mine are dead or on their way out. anyone want to help install the springs when i get them? :)

hey ryan, whats goin on with the lower IC pipe? were you going to get murrays pipe copied? let me know, i want to replace mine i think.

NashMan 04-13-2003 09:34 PM

dude run 10 40 in your car

as for the pipe i have it one my car the origlae one and it far from fun install but ti did fit after alot of um smokeing cigs and buch of bitching and still fit in not fun like but ti work good

my best sujestion on get lower on made that is if your is ead and stuff you know when you pull it off and i sujest that you do cause they tend to get old and leak bost cause high ideal probs ect

but if it ant riped or leaking then there is no point on really replaceing it just the lower half of it whiht hard pipe

you can have my old peac of hard pipe if you wish

Enraged 04-14-2003 03:05 PM

holy CRAP i just spent $122 on NGK Plats and some 10W40 oil.... goin to pick up a new accordian hose on friday for $72 unless Jas can find me a better deal.

as for springs, found a reputable site that will sell me H&Rs for US$213 shipped (not sure if its UPS or Fedex yet) which is around $310 CDN. if that falls through, tirereack has them for US$198, but they ship UPS.

Paradox 04-14-2003 03:38 PM

yeah. NGK plats arent cheap spark plugs, but you might notice a difference, and they should last awhile...

i thought a acordian hose is only like 50 bux?

Paradox 04-14-2003 03:46 PM

ive got court tommorow, maybe... arggh

Enraged 04-14-2003 04:53 PM

ya, i thought it was liek $46, maybe that was US cash.

court maybe? if so, good luck man

NashMan 04-14-2003 05:10 PM

ooooooo (drum roll) to drive or not to drive that is the qestion oooooooooo

yae i paid like 50 bucks for mine hummmm

as accodaij hose

still i fight on what to buy turbo rebuild or ecb humm some wants to sell me a hks1v for 450 or some thing humm

Paradox 04-14-2003 07:06 PM

haha i dont think i'll get my license back, i just dont want to have a criminal record

whats the use in buying a EBC if your turbo is already half dead?

NashMan 04-14-2003 08:27 PM

it ant dea di got lots of life left just about 1 year or so i don't push my car much at all and hardly boost high as well

Update...

I was so sure I was going to turn the key tonight, worked from 6pm until midnight, only to learn that my lower heater hose was leaking out of the back of the engine. The JDM block has it on the opposite side from the USDM block (some LHD/RHD thing), so I thought I could use just any hose I had lying around... 3/4" appears to be too big, time to pick up some 5/8" tommorow. Then... I can drive like a granny until I'm sure the motor is ok and my clutch is broken in :p

well, after lookin around and reading some posts by Dr J and Larry A, i returned the NGK plats and picked up some Champion coppers. gapped them to 0.031, ready to go in. with the difference in price, i also picked up a couple of bottle of DOT 3 brake fluid to freshen up the brakes, and i got a nice little $61 credit back :) that will pay for the new accordian hose.

fuzebox 04-16-2003 07:48 AM

What's wrong with NGK Plats? All I heard is that they don't provide a performance advantage over coppers, but last longer...

Or did I confuse them with Iridiums?

NashMan 04-16-2003 11:47 AM

as i said befor copper ones tend ot nto take heat as muh as platum tiped plud but copper is good conndutor better then plate but int this case you just gap you plats closer to gain you spark back iraums have the best of both worlds

what i run is nkg lazser plates i find to be very nice plug and have nice heat control as well as longativety

all and all i run plaumts gaped ot my timeing i have set

what one sot buy is arainums there pimp plug but they were just coeming out whe i bought my plugs so they were not avavble yet

maybe in half year or so i may switch to em or some thing but eh mine work great right now and get mean spark should know i have bean shocked hehehe

Enraged 04-16-2003 12:13 PM

copper = $9
plats =$90

i can change them in about 15 min, its worth saving the money
