im thinkin of buying a longblock (or is it shortblock, just the block, crank, pistons, rods, etc?) to rebuild so if something goes wrong i can just swap it over....

yeah, i put in shitty 87 octane gas.. it only happened one morning. its all good now, cept my idle sux ass.i need the lex AFM screw real bad or a S-AFC, that knock i think was something on the engine banging around, nothing internal, the idle was just so horrible that it was shaking around a lot, i'll be using highest octane possible from now on... hehe
my car has like 130,000k on it or so (fairly low for a supra)
btw.. i raised boost to 12psi today, it was pretty fun, cept i was spiking to 15psi with washers on wastegate, grrrr..... need my boost controller soon...
i think i pulled 0-140kph in a matter of geezus, not many seconds.. its pretty quick off the line now too bad my tranny isnt holding it! |

yeah... supra's are known for being un-reliable, as with any car thats highly modified, but it should hopefully stick together if im good to it.
and i dunno what good my turbo will be by the time it comes off, but i'll let you know then. -- it isnt pushing how it used to |

supras are reliable i think, it jsut depends, just liek any other car. if you slap a larger turbo on, more fuel etc on an engine with 150,000km, then ya, i would expect something to go wrong.
thats why im going to look into buying a short block (or is it long block) in the summer. just build it up, and when i have the money, ill just switch it over, put in a MHG, studs, etc. ill probably be aiming for 400-450 rwhp which is possible on the stock bottom end, but ill probably get the pistons coated, rings, stress relieved rods, fully balanced, etc.

well lets define relable
supra vs asprint or terce the supra will be more of pain caues from factory it is hoped up so it will not last as long
and when yo hop it up more things go wroung in less it done right and such but nothing is ever perfect
we should plan littelk supra meet up when sliver mrk 3 gets his car going and such

i was thinkin a torch, but i dont think it would be a good idea around the caliper, etc...... DAMNIT i want to drive, im SO close to being finished!!!

it has nothng to do whiht what size you wheel are infact the thiner they are the better control think about it what do wide tire do caues turbulace and thiner one whould that is why drag cars have thiner one it the front besides weight and such
but 150 mhp is like hold ont eh wheel whiht bothing hands teyp of thing the car was quit stable at that speed to even around the big coner on the way to town from langford
but i whould not say to do this do it on your own risk my car felt out at that speed i have w rated tire and full seption work done do at you own risk

GOT THE FUCKER OFF!!! uh... the bolt i mean hehe
i jammed on a 21/32 socket that my dad had (it ALMOST fits, and it did fit with a bit of bashing), used a breaker bar that i found and they both came off with a little elbow grease.
so i now have good brakes! i didnt really test them, becuase your supposed to bed them in over about 200-500 km. so no jamming on the breaks from 200 kph for a few weeks hehe
150 mph eh nashman? that was a test track, right? (cops brouwse the board sometimes, just so you know....)
i cant wait for the next minisprint now! paradox is coming, right? even if you dont race, i want to see your car
now i REALLY need to do my exhaust, the car feels so choked, especially over 4000 rpm..... oh well, about a month and ill have an extra 75-100 hp to play with

hehehe i ordered a S-AFC! maybe i can get my car idling a little better and make a extra 30 horse power or so (depending on tuning, but thats a average gain for S-AFC's) this is also supposed to clear up idle issues with cars using HKS SSQ BOV's (like me) ...... my car idles like shit! lexus AFM evil! hehe, but the power makes up for it!
now if i can ever get my hands on a damn boost controller i'll be set!

well boys i may sell my car if i find the right buyer
caues of one reson i don't really care for the turbo power as much as NA POWER!!!!
caues there is some much lag but but i will give it another chance when i get my full exhuast it may cange my mind
but if i got to replace my car this is kinda funny you may laugh but there nice cars i whould like to find a toyota 86 gts carrola
and rip out the 4age and pop in a 2 gen mr2 motor 5age or that what i think it is called
not saying this as fact
but driven my friends rx7 showed me how much fun na power really is
well i am not leaven the supra in the dust but it is just thought that has bean runing though my mind lately
it may not go fast stright but in the conner na's are the best

ha after you did all that work on it eh? that would be a sweet car though, but those are really popular now, i doubt you could find one without rust, etc for under $4000. and NAs arent better in corners than turbos, and lag all depends on the gear and RPM your in. 3000 rpm in second is VERY fun around corners....

what makes a NA so much better around corners?
the fact that it doesnt have nearly as much power so it doesnt get into the corner as fast? heheh...
i dunno, ive driven alotta NA sports cars, and im definetaly sticking to the turbo
NA Rx7's arent very fast at all either..... 2nd gen. 1986-87 does 0-60mph in like 9-10 seconds (ive timed this)
the 86 and 87 Rx7's are actually slower than the 85 first Gens because of extra weight and basically the same power output.
its all up to you tho man, i just hope you arent sitting around yelling at yourself for selling the supra some day... |

well i like my supra i know that it fery fun car butt he lag is slowing me down alot
i try to keep the boost there wheil i gear down and hit coner ps you don't wan tfull boost or you car will spike and send the ass end out
as na has smooth power as in you gear down hell toe it and you still will be in power then push her to the floor and you pull out nice and smooth and fast
as if you have turbo you gear down loose all your power and hopfuly yuou can recover around 3 rpm so in way you are not useing all your power
one day you should come around and race around whiht me
ps the 2gen is alot faster the the frist you just must have had bad engine
turbo spikes/never use all your power/slower in coners/great for strighaways
na bad ass power flow/use all the power in teh coners/not that great in strighes in less you got some hp
i have not give up lerning how to drive this turbo car but i will lern alls it will take is time ps i am slower in my turbo then i was in my na supra

if you say so.... give me the same suspension mods as you, put an NA in your car and turbo in mine, i bet turbo is going to be faster around minisprint, etc....
