oh ok, thanks paradox. I also discovered some shaft play in my turbo during the teardown, so i guess i will have to get it rebuilt as well. Doh... this is going to get expensive, fast! lol oh well it should be a fun car when its all done :) |
get it upgraded! hehe go with a 54 trim, unclipped. not too big, but will flow a bit more than stock. |
54 trim has been proven to bring the most bang for the buck, and quick spool.... so i agree, unless you want huge HP #'s |
am i ever wrong? well... yes, but rarely. |
true enough, but atleast when you are wrong you have the balls to admit it.... ;) |
Haha right on guys, thanks. I have thought about upgrading it, but i can probably get the stock one rebuilt for fairly cheap from a guy i know. Just out of curiousity though how much roughly would this 54 trim upgrade cost? |
$500-$1000, depending on where you get it done. |
toby were'd ya go? we just got into some neat races there.... |

At least it will be a brand new car by the time you're done. |

Back to the reason of this post. You may as well redo the interior black while we're throwing money around. :p You already have to replace the door panels and carpet. I wouldn't bother replacing that stuff right away though just so you don't tie yourself to that tan. It's just that sitting here thinking about it, red as an accent color isn't really working with tan in my head. Basically my point was, rebuild the engine first and get most of the bigger things like a BOV, secondly I'd take care of the body work, then leave the interior looking like shit until the very last. |
paint/dye the interior, i did.. well i started the project, then gave up at the dash, didnt wanna yank it just yet only cost me like 30 bux in paint and its held up great for over a year |
remmber ebvery turbo has some shaft play so it might not be bad in any way you cna do test to see if it is dead when it is off the of the car as in rebuilding the turbo 500 ucsk just for rebuild 950 for a new cold side what ever compser you chose as in the 54 trim is is the bes compsure to match the hot side but fuck that just go bigger and have tad more lag a 54 trim will be just like stock wit just little mroe kick to it stock is 38 trim or some thgini i forget and such but cheak out your turbo frist |
ya well im not going to do anything with it unless its toast for sure, ive gotta find out how much play is acceptable though because im not sure how much they can have. |
Would a '86.5 AFM from an N/A Supra work for my '87 Turbo Supra? |
