synthetic oil seems a lot thinner to me than conventional oil of the same weight. YOu gotta remember that with synethetic oil, all the molecules are the same size. If one can find it's way out... they all will and you will get constant leaking.
I believe that is the only reason you should go with a bit heavier oil when you make the switch. I'm not 100% sure... but it just makes sense to me ?

Paradox 05-11-2004 10:11 PM

ive heard bad things with synthetic and high boost causing rod knock....

Slate 85GTS 05-11-2004 11:06 PM

Yeah im actually thinking more and more about just running normal 5w30 forever, for break in and after that? Seems reasonable to me. I dont really think synthetics are necessary? But i might go with a normal NGK plug. Ive always had best luck with them in all my other cars? Just seems reasonable to try again. I just dont know what heat range to run thats all. I guess i will stick with stock which is a 6. I will be running a 195 thermostat in my supra.

Paradox 05-11-2004 11:18 PM

paragraphs, use em! :p

anyways, yeah, synthetic is really not needed...

i think im just gonna yank my thermostat, not much use considering the weather.

islandsupra 05-11-2004 11:26 PM

why take it out? it's not gonna hurt anything...
yeah, I wish I just stayed with regular oil. I never had a single leak wheN I used normal oil, now it leaks all over the fucking placce.

OH yeah... I'll be down there tomorrow night, and for a bit of thursday if anyone has some free time, let me know. Probably won't get to come down a whole lot this summer. Gotta go make plans now!

Enraged 05-11-2004 11:36 PM

so, anyone need any mouldings or what? rust free and all the clips :)

NashMan 05-12-2004 06:51 AM

ok ok systhick is just slick thatnks ot aditives it it's hard ot burn and takes temp loner systec is the best way to go piroed in less you are make raceing egen and need the persure ot match you car

same weight just thikcier it will not leka in less you have old seals it will redues the chance of rod nock as well if you eninge is ketp in shape as for plugs keep the same heat range in less you are boosting really high

the 7mgte igntion system is butilfe you can really blow out the spark cause the s7m has a really hot spark to begine wiht

ps the lower the therstate you run the better if i pop one into my car mabye in the winter i going to run 120 to 150 if i can therstate can make u loose hg in no time if they stick

all it is there for is so you car warms up faster and that is it so you can get heat in your car much sooner

runing wiht no therstate will make you can run coler then if you did not have one to begine wiht

ps toby if there gray i might want one on the drivers side fender but i don't 3want red one at all i all ready put on that grey mirro si looks funny on my car

the only reson why you don't run systic to begine wit is you rings have to seat and so does every thgin els if you don't le6t ti seat by runing a slick oil then you get shit blow by top end will get noise fast ect

any ways see you later peoepl i am going to work

Enraged 05-12-2004 09:34 AM

boys, do some research on oil. dino oil for breakin, synthetic afterwards.

make sure you have the right weight synthetic, and you'll be fine. keep in mind dino oil changes viscosity with temperature, while synthetic doesnt. synthetic lasts longer, doesnt break down, will keep your engine cleaner. since you are doing a rebuild, i would suggest some high quality oil, like royal purple or Redline.

but what do i know, i only worked in the gas industry for 6 years....

Enraged 05-12-2004 11:10 AM

mouldings are black with a burgandy tint sorta... but if you were to spraybomb them white to match your car they would look good.

legally blonde 05-12-2004 11:45 AM

is there any way... i coudl get them to work for ryans car...

Enraged 05-12-2004 01:26 PM

Paradox 05-13-2004 10:15 PM

cool, what kind of seats?

im hitting fuel cut.... at 17psi... bah

i changed all my AFC settings back to 0% a year ago (bah!)
so i've yanked out a bit of fuel at 5000rpm now, and added a bit at 3000, which usually works best.. now if i could only afford to put gas in the damn thing everyday :p

changed to new plugs today and slapped on my NGK plat wires finally.... seems to make a bit of difference in responce atleast, so far, so good.

islandsupra 05-14-2004 01:38 AM

you are ugly.... (directed at nobody in particular)
