Paradox 07-06-2004 11:47 PM

VIS isnt inactive, email me pics and specs for the cars and i'll add them to the website. parad0x@shaw.ca

Enraged 07-07-2004 08:10 AM

islandsupra 07-07-2004 09:48 AM

Yeah, nobody's cars really run... damn supras (I said it again!)
But nonetheless, I'll be a part of any local MK3 organization and if it means getting people together for whatever then all the power to you!!

Enraged 07-07-2004 10:57 AM

AVNGinger 07-07-2004 11:40 PM

thats right, whatever i want.....i want a MK4, GIMME NOW!!

Matt6003 07-07-2004 11:51 PM

Im lookin at buying an 89 Supra, just thought I'd get some feedback from other Supra owners, like are they expensive at all do work on?? Plz reply

islandsupra 07-08-2004 10:46 AM

not too bad to work on, but you'll find yourself doing it a fair amount. Remember it's a 15 year old car, so you can't expect to be able to drive it like you stole it, produce gobs of horsepower and not have anything go wrong.
That being said, it's the funnest car I've ever driven and I wouldn't trade it for anything :)

Matt6003 07-08-2004 11:11 AM

Thanks, yeah its alot of fun to drive, I'ts already pretty fast, and I'm sure I'll enjoy doing the work to make the car better(or just make it work)

AVNGinger 07-08-2004 11:23 AM

yeah, also keep in mind that parts can be a bitch to find, the center bearing on the driveshaft alone is $230 and can only be found at the dealers

Enraged 07-08-2004 01:42 PM

center bearing replacement... bah, pointless. just get a one-peice driveshaft....

NashMan 07-08-2004 04:22 PM

supra's are fun cars and is the most rebilbe in it's class

aka 300zx/rx7

it all so veries on what one you get beat on or from grama or from grama that never got it looked after or changed the oil

any ways supra really only have these fults besides age retaded and beat on type thing

head gasket and power attena and they will spin bareing very easy if you don't cheak your oil cause they have no oil light in the cars so don't just drive it around telly ou see the light come on and stuff

ps you have to cheak turbo cars oil more offten then a na car cause trubo will bunr oil even when they are new

head gasket life of a turbo is about 150 to about 180 and the n/a ones are about 200 to 240

Enraged 07-08-2004 05:19 PM

also, if you fix the headgasket properly (new stock gasket with ARP bolts, or a metal head gasket with ARP bolts, torqued higher than the stock rating) they HG is essentially bulletproof, provided the car is in good running condition (no using 87 octane, if you have a fuel computer, dont run it lean, etc, all common sense stuff)

you funny stock every thign is fine it just depends what you wana do with the car you wana boost big do it right

arp bolts are really only good for after market hg's really think about it what is 8 extra foot pounds gonna do for you cause that is abotut eh most turq you can give the stock hg befor it is to crushed to use and will just blow donw the road

reg compsite can got to 80 foot pounds max 72 is what toyota recomneds on there stock head bolts cause there tencil strith can be pushed ot about 80 befor they start to strech and lose there tencil xstrith but wiht stock head bolts i whould only go 72 sure beat the old 52 turq rating

now hks bead type gasket can be pushed to 90 foots pounds

hks stopper is rated for 95 foot pounds

arp bolts will only go as high as 90 foot pounds befor they go to
there max rating and that is 98 foot ponds

studs can go as high as 120 foot pounds but i for get there max rating i think that might be there max rating i kinda forget really

benfits on studs vs bolts is bolt will not give proper turq rating and will back out of the hed befor studs will and studs will alow poper head gasket alment as well vs bolts

so i hop this explains your answr when it comes to head bolts and such

oh yae the reson why 7m blow hg so easy is cause there bolt pattern they used the motor was flawed since it was made

if we had steel cast heads there whould not be prob at all cause the auml head mixed wiht steel block wiht crapp ass bolt patten

what happens is both meatl heat up at to diffent rates caus ethe head ot walk off the block when you get high in temp and then let cool

if your car runs hot then you will blow you gasket fast if you run cold as nice frosty beer at the bar then your fine

i hope this answer's all teh qestion's about the supra biggest prob

ps i am drunk but what ever

Matt6003 07-08-2004 09:44 PM

The car im lookin at has 220,000kms on it, do any of yours have that many, and which stock parts might be ready to burst on it??

all depends on how it was treated in it's life sot eh answer is liek used car shit will break

the onyl thign that will go even if ti was tread well is the hg and power anttena

mine had 140 on the motor and after 2 weesk wiht eh motor i blew hg i am at 175 to 180 and i blew my gasket again and have rod nock now but i drive my car hard and took not great care wiht ti caus ei got lazy and had coolent leak cause air to get into my system and my car ran hot caus ei had no fan shrould and was to cheep to buy a new one or eletriac fan that flows over 2500 cfm

my car ran hot 210 all the time the supra should run at 180 rock solid

so i kinda asked for it oh well

my new motor will be diffetn story caus ei droping so good coin inot my motor so we will see what happens

Matt6003 07-08-2004 09:54 PM

Im getting it off of a friend of mine, and from what I know its been treated pretty well, so hopefully I dont have much to worry about

Matt6003 07-08-2004 10:24 PM

By the way, if anybody knows where I can get an MKIII in decent condition for less than $5000, PM me

NashMan 07-09-2004 06:45 AM

i know of one for sale has some mods doen ti it as well

Matt6003 07-09-2004 08:27 AM

Any idea how much?

AVNGinger 07-09-2004 04:49 PM

has anyone here had to get their rusted wheel wells fixed?

Enraged 07-09-2004 07:02 PM

ive got a bit of rust forming on the wheel well fender... ill either fix it when i paint it, or chop it out and add flares.
