hehe yeah i wasnt totally sure that was ur supra but i thought id wave anyways..
umm.. i was looking thru all the car lots for a cheap'ish winter car
there is like NOTHING out there.... arggh. i checked basically every lot in victoria, also went thru the auto trader, no luck.
just hope i can find something cheaper up island... keeping the supra 100% off the road in the winter would be awesome.
ohh new o2 sensor in too, i still idle like crap. but gas mileage is waaay better, tranny fluid changed too, with 75W90 and GM addidtive. makes it feel a little smoother

oh ya, the other reason i went into town was to find out about an alarm. well, i chose the alarm, gettin a few toys with it too.... goin to cost me $525, installed myself. them installing it would bring the total to $850..... learn by doing, right?

btw i just pulled my car hard on the highway, and after o2 sensor and tranny fluid it felt a lot better, i didnt really get a chance to let er open til tonight. instead of the ford LSD additive, i put in GM additive, so far it feels great. transmission is a lot smoother compared to before, but still not to the spec i want..hehe.
and yeah, im thinking of getting some NGK plugs and wires soon.. ive just been putting it off cuz i had new toyota wires put in last december, but the toyota wires arent too good compared to the NGK's (i forget which type, but theres one set that are supposed to be amazing)
i need to get a spark plug wrench socket
mainly i think i idle like crap because of the lexus AFM and no adjustment screw. i notice the car only really stalls after the BOV shoots out a ton of air, so maybe the BOV is still too tight..
what would you guys suggest for the best spark plugs?

So how many of you guys have done a head retorque? I'm wondering how much a dealership or some other mechanic would charge... My gf's uncle's shop probably has all the tools I'll need, but if it's cheap enough than I'd just get someone else to do it.

i havent done it, but i should soon. i might just change the headgasket (to a new stocker) with ARP bolts in the near future, just to be safe.
its actually not that hard. i could have done it, i just didnt have the time. take off the 3000 pipe, coil packs, the different vaccuum lines, the throttle linkage, etc, then just remove the cam covers. you can torque them down with the cams in, they just have to be at top dead center apparantly.
i still want to know if i can just swap in ARP bolts without changing the head gasket at all. i dont feel safe torqueing the old stockers down, it would be a bitch to get them out if one of them snapped...

and yes, im goin with the Viper, but not the remote start version. im also getting remote hatch pop, i should have gotten it for my beretta, its a very handy feature. they also have a 2 way pager coming out in august or september, so when that comes out ill get it for the added security. and then ill put a sign on my car that says "This vehicle is protected by a homicidal maniac with a baseball bat."

Nashman, you can pick them up any time you want. I work every day except this coming sunday so it'll probably have to be sometime before 6pm (unless I work matinee that day).
I guess I should bust out the old haynes manual and pull the parts off - unless you feel like doing it?
As to the wiring off an 86.5, there's nothing in Nanaimo, when I was looking for a parts car to get the crossmember from all I found was a TEMS 87 NA, and an 88T at South Island Imports.
Enraged, do you have any pics of your work in progress?

goddamnit! did it rain hard at auto-x after i left? once i got closer to victoria it was just pissing down rain..
not a bad auto-x, but it seemed slower than before for some reason, maybe cause of the colder cement? hell, i dunno.
neways i'll have to see how these pics came out...

Got this message today from the shopping cart site Lotek uses: Quote:
The status of this order is currently: Shipped
Thank you for shopping with Lo-Tek, Inc..
| I have to say I'm impressed. Should get it next week I guess... So much for JeffM's warning of waiting 2 months!
If only I could afford a boost gauge now
