polishing the exhaust manifold with a dremel is fun.... i cant believe the size of the lumps where the studs are. ive got a feww of them ground down partway, ill have to pick up some more grinding wheels....

islandsupra 10-28-2004 06:43 PM

who thinks I should be Mr T for Halloween?

I can't decide on anything, had a good one picked out and actually went and bought a whole costume but it doesn't fit!!

Gotta think up something on the fly now... thought of all the brown people I could, boiled it down to Mr T, Osama, or a Cuban druglord.

NashMan 10-28-2004 06:47 PM

cuban drug lord

he ported the waste gate hole ported the exhuast housieng and the manfold

the big part in this is the porting of the turbo it self cause see it t3 exhuast houseing restive waste gate hole is restive and that why i going to port mine even more

NashMan 10-28-2004 09:29 PM

lil wicks 10-28-2004 09:58 PM

nashman do i need a custom made drive shaft if i put a 7m ge in to mk2 supra

Paradox 10-28-2004 10:01 PM

if the only thing you're worried about is the driveshaft, you need to do more research on the swap.

Enraged 10-29-2004 01:13 PM

iver talked to a few people who noticed gains from polishing the exhaust mani... considering im almost done and havent spent a dime, its not going to hurt.

note: dont try to pick up a CF lip from puralator in a sprint....

Paradox 10-29-2004 10:16 PM

147k now.....

bought the car at less than 90k. figure im keeping about average mk3 mileage.

NashMan 10-30-2004 01:49 PM

hey toby i did not notice you bug thing int he back of your head

but did you ask the machine shop if they will warrty it cause whent to the shop they said they will only do it if the bug is made of aulim not steel it will cause the head to crack

Enraged 10-30-2004 03:32 PM

i tolf them to use an aluminum plug. ill check to make sure it is, if it isnt ill just take it out and replace it before i put the head on.

just got a resurface, new valve seals, jet cleaning (looks almost new compared to how dirty it was before), plug the EGR, check and replace and damaged exhaust studs (they did 1), polish the cams (they had minor surface rust from sitting outside).

bob or ryan, either of you have some time to help me get the head back on? also, what do i need to do to prep the block for the new gasket? just clean it off with some carb cleaner and make sure there no crap in the cylinders?

i can put the exhaust side back together no problem, its the intake/fuel side that im worried im going to mess something up....

NashMan 10-30-2004 09:28 PM

meh you will not mess up

it really easy you have book it will tell you every thign you ned to know and if you are stumbed help yae

ps toby did you ask them to mic your cams mine were dead and that one reson why i replaced them

if there not wiht in spec then you have to re do teh head crap again beinds taken the head off but kidna of pain when you can't shim it right

ask the if they were still in spec and all so ask them for the numbers they did

Enraged 10-31-2004 12:39 AM

k, ill look into it.

if a head needs rebuilding, i would probably just drive the car as is and build a second head anyways...

NashMan 10-31-2004 09:28 AM

well remmbewr his measher at lest 4 times like i do i hate reshiming after it is all done it's really a pain

NashMan 10-31-2004 09:47 AM

i think if i can get mrk 4 brake si might beable ot pull off wicked brakes system

i know how ot do it but the monting of the stock mrk 4 capliers is where i need ot know more of beofr i think of doing this

so i hav eot find out at work tommrow if i cna pul this off it be sweet as hel 13 inc rotor's up front and 12 in the rear and better capers more then one psiotn makes me happy

Enraged 10-31-2004 10:51 AM

you need to make caliper adapters, but they have to be pretty presice. if you end up getting some rotors, let me borrow them for 30 min so i can measure them and model them in CAD :)

NashMan 10-31-2004 03:43 PM

well i whoudl get kenny ot make the adators

but we wil see what i do i think i migth just give upt eh idea and go for sloted rotors but umm i not sure yet i still have to find the rpice of the mrk 4 ones form work tommrow

Ryan, was that supposed to say polish??!

Not trying to be a dick or anything, just that usually I can make sense of your posts.

I'm only wondering if there's some sort of crap that I haven't heard of (and there's no way in hell that even looks like it could sound like polish :P)
