So now my turbo is cracked... it just never ends... im not sure what im going to do now?

http://img59.exs.cx/img59/1914/dsc027724ob.jpg

The guy that rebuild my turbo said that this is most likely from running too rich and getting excess fuel still combusting in the turbine housing when it shouldnt, i guess im gonna have to make something up to recirculate my blowoff valve. Thats all i can think of that makes my car run rich? Any other ideas?

NashMan 12-07-2004 05:44 PM

ummm i goign to call bs on that runign to rich fuck that you whoudl know if you deataion in your elbo fire whould pop out fo you exhaust like mad man plus you car woudl pop all the time kidna liek missfireing systom liek rally cars

what happen is this it started out as small crack that grew in size heat will do that and that is that but new hot side i have one here but the waste gat has some nice crackes to from heat and crap casting

and toyota casting are 2 peac fill so your cracked right where they fil to getter makes seanc don't it just crappy cast

Slate 85GTS 12-07-2004 07:19 PM

yeah im not really sure what caused it, im just going to take the exhaust side of the turbo off and have a better look once its apart and see if i should try and find a replacement.

Matt6003 12-07-2004 09:57 PM

well my car is still running... and i think i've stuck with saving up some money and doing a complete turbo swap. as most people are saying, go big or go home

Enraged 12-09-2004 02:03 PM

good! no use in continueing with a boring old NA :)

islandsupra 12-09-2004 03:31 PM

no point dumping money into an N/A then realizing after it's too late that yuo should have spent the extra few hundred and gone turbo.

Hey Bob... I know where there's a nice turbo kit for sale ;)
No but seriously that sucks! I wonder if you can find a dead one with a good housing? Nevermind I'm probably talking out of my ass.
Just haven't been online much in the past few weeks - finally got around to getting internet hooked up in the new place.

Oh, did you go pick up your downpipe from Cole? Pretty nice eh?!!
I wanted to just keep it and send the other one down, lol.

Slate 85GTS 12-09-2004 05:12 PM

Haha oh yeah, so what about this turbo kit?? ;) how much, what is it and where? I will talk to you more about it on msn or shoot me an email sometime about it. Otherwise my plan is to try and find a good exhaust housing off a dead turbo like you say, we will just have to wait and see i guess. And yes i went and picked up the downpipe from Coles! Thanks again man, that is sweet. Next time i see you we will get even. Actually ive been thinking about another deal for you too so we will have to chat later.

Slate 85GTS 12-09-2004 10:16 PM

well my wastegate valve seat and everything is still perfect... i realise they are known for cracking there but if my pos one is still ok then there has got to be some other ones out there somewhere. Either that or time for an aftermarket turbo i guess...

bling bling the money trian come a rolling in

after market means big money and wiht out fule it's point less

we do have brand new ct26 at work now it came off a mr2 and there boht eh saem pretty much it umm a tad bit smaller thou but it will be alot less laggy thou wiht the twin port exhuast side

just find new hot side hell i might be4bale to find dead turbo for you any way at work just tell me when and stuff

Paradox 12-10-2004 09:32 PM

or just get a entire CT26 off supraforums for $200 or less......

is that port in your exhaust side for a EGT gauge? if so wouldnt you have noticed some really insane jumps in temp if it was enough to crack? i also call BS on running rich. not on 440's atleast...

only time ive ever seen enough temps to do such a thing is uh awhile back when my bolts were lose on my downpipe to the turbo, and ithe oxygen sensor was reading wrong, thus putting in too much fuel and i was shooting either flames or black smoke.

owell, best of luck bob, i say go for that 20G kit if you're willing to go with bigger injectors, because honestly this turbo will not show you any love until 15+psi. works really well around 20psi and ive heard of MR2 guys taking em 25psi daily.

then why is your not at 25 psi then hehehe do it i knwo you wana

plus you have to once my car is on the road

Enraged 12-10-2004 11:49 PM

440s are good for 400rwhp.. the only reason to upgrade to 550s is becuase of fuel cut...

NashMan 12-10-2004 11:50 PM

hey i meet matt at times tonight his car is in pretty nice shape

just got to get that rod nock fixed and she be good as gold and if you go turbo that be even better

Matt6003 12-11-2004 12:05 AM

wow you got home pretty quick

Slate 85GTS 12-11-2004 12:37 AM

Yeah right now im looking for a new stock CT26 hot side. Something in good shape. I dont really want to have to buy a whole new turbo, mine was rebuilt when i did the engine so it seems kinda pointless. Ryan... if you can find a hotside at work that is in good shape just let me know, anytime. I need one as soon as i can find one. Oh yeah and Murray that is a EGT adaptor tapped into my exhaust side of the turbo but i only just installed that when i found the cracks in the turbo... :( Thats actually how i found the crack.

Paradox 12-11-2004 01:33 AM

bob..... get.... the.........20G......

haha

NashMan 12-11-2004 10:29 AM

sorry to say i whould never buy the 20g it's just to small and no ware near the power i want

i say the 20 g it great for engies the size of 2 liters but for 3 liter it just nto my turbo of choice

sp57 or sp60 or other remmber we all have 3 liter eingien

islandsupra 12-11-2004 11:56 AM

I think the 20G would be the only turbo I would buy. From what I hear it is probably the BEST suited for our engines as far as just everyday (spirited) driving goes. The only other option I would go is like a 57 trim Garrett GT ball bearing turbo if I had that much extra cash.
I think a turbo that spools that quickly and can boost 25 psi all day long iis a pretty damn good choice, if you aren't just looking for big numbers and 1/4 times.

Enraged 12-11-2004 12:34 PM

ill probably get an SP58GT eventually. fast spool, good for around 500rwhp... maybe once im done school...

Slate 85GTS 12-11-2004 04:38 PM

Ryan what do you have at work right now as far as a good condition hot side for the ct26 goes? Otherwise i might have to buy a whole turbo from someone in the states that i know of... let me know though. Local is obviously way better.

NashMan 12-11-2004 07:47 PM

well i can most likly find core but not just the hot side by it sefl and i have to kow that you will buy one and how much you wana spend

and since your doing that why nto upgrade the ct it does not cost that much

NashMan 12-12-2004 10:02 AM

can any one tell em how thick the sub frame spacer's are on there cars i need ot know befor i pop all my stuff ina nd stuff

so the that si the rear spacer there easy to see just need to know how tall they are so i cna make some stiffent plates of it make my soil subframe thign work
