Got any info on the 1G-GTE anyone?

islandsupra 02-06-2005 04:37 PM

I think that only came in the 80's cars (soarers and supras)that never came to America.
2.0 litre twin-turbo 210hp and 210ft.lb

I dunno if it'd be worth buying - might be fun having twins but good luck finding parts!

_supras_ 02-06-2005 04:51 PM

Ya, I was just readin random stuff, work is boring...noticed it in some supras over in Japan....

Paradox 02-06-2005 07:17 PM

Enraged 02-10-2005 10:50 PM

dont take your shit to JB machine shop (to be assembled). the machine work is great, but i discovered my cam brackets (?) were torqued VERy hard.. stock torque should be 14 ft-lbs.. i figure JB torqued them to 60+... hopefully nothing will go wrong, but i cant get the cam gears off either, the bolts are torqued super high.... another reason to do everything yourself.

NashMan 02-11-2005 11:02 AM

caps are held on tight remmber it take alot of force to brake a bolt free then tighting it

any way the cam will come off just use screw driver stick it throw the cam and jamp it agist the bolt ont eh back plat you should beable to get the gear off use breaker bar it will come off easy remmber mor the level less the froce ont eh stopper aka the screw driver

and if there is loctic in there use hammper and hti teh bolt don't hit it hard but just eghpugh to give it some shock so it can be brake free or tighten to loosen

NashMan 02-11-2005 12:38 PM

there is big thing on the supra frums and such right now on what oil they run and stuff for our eninge's

the manule says 10 30 and the 6m and 5m 10 30

but peoepl are puttign heavery oil's in saying it is the best thing you can do eninge on blue printed motor

i ran 10 40 befor i wounder is i should try 15 40 or 15 30 if they make it

people are saying use heavery oil dunirng brake iin as well but wounder that cause not good ring seating hummm

Hey Matt and Murray - how does 700 bucks for a turbo motor, that apparently was running (but minus the turbo itself and the coilpacks) AND a R-154 sound to you? Downpipe and exhaust is still there though. Kind of rusted but that's no biggie.
Guy said ~500-ish for the engine and around 150 for the tranny. I don't know how good his ballpark prices are, but he was the owner of the place. Price quotes always seem to change but I talked to him and made sure he would remember who I am.

Pretty good? Yeah I thought so... you owe me, motherbitches!!

Talk to me on MSN later for more details :)

Edit : just so you know, the car it is in is in phemoninal shape, decent mileage on it. It was hit on the passenger side and written off.

Paradox 02-16-2005 02:30 PM

Enraged 02-16-2005 03:05 PM
