well that sucks. if i didnt already have a clutch to put in i would buy it... ryan... i hate you, trade me the mkii for the sprint. oh ya, i went to metal supermarkets, they do the bottles for welding gas, its $60/yr for 1 yr lease, down to $40/yr for a 3 yr, so ill probably get a 3 year. unfortunetly ill need 2 bottles, argon 22 for aluminum and a mix for the steel/stainless. |

don't waste your money on 2 bottles reson being 120 suck for welding and there is no convetion for the push pull type wond so useing just puash kinda suck's you might bebale to tac weld but it most likly whould suck |
do you guys know hpw temting it whould be to drop my motor int eh mrk 2 |

cool, so no clutch going in anymore. I gave in and sold it for 375 U.S so I take a bit of a hit on that I guess but oh well. I was hoping to get some more engine work done this winter (headgasket, fpr, maft pro/emanage) and then put the clutch in and push 15psi. But now because my stupid student loan never came I won't be doing any of that, just going to fix the damage to the fender and bumper, hopefully do some more minor body work if I have time and get a few things powdercoated too in a couple weeks. But sadly no power goodies this year... as far as I know of yet anyways :p |

My buddy Suprang is running a 100% stock clutch(and pp) on a to4 @ 20ish psi and he's def making over 400rw Also, don't go maft pro. It was looking good....and now it looks like they changed their mind and prob. won't have timing control. For you i'd say just yank the head off, slap on a cometic + arp's, throw an afpr on, lex afm and if you want, an safc although it's not even necesarry since you can tune so much with the afpr alone. Oh and did I mention the stock fuel pump can also flow over 400rw? I would upgrade it past 350+ to be safe but it's fine for you Someone I know locally is running basically that setup(with a walbro though) and is pushing out about 430-440rwhp on an upgraded ct...so go for it Hell, if you really want to save $$, you can still do 15psi fine either way....You already have an exhaust, intake & hardpipes right? Go FCD + boost controller....and if you want to fine tune, use an safc/safr - Done. completely reliable, simple setup and it costs next to nothing :) As for the HG you don't even NEED a metal one...It's another myth from the idiots on SF haha. Of course it's better without a doubt, but the HG being composite won't result in it blowing when you're only making say 300-400rwhp. The main thing that would cause a new one + good torque specs to blow is detonation Too lazy to type anything else, I just woke up so I'm going to fry up some bacon :D |
I hear ya Mark, i know the stock clutch is pretty good, but mine is also alreadt pretty worn. I got the spec for around 500 shipped so it wasn't all that bad. But when I do it i will probably just buy a new disk instead of the whole kit. As for hg, that is just for my own peace of mind. Apparently the motor was rebuilt 20k before I boughit it, but the guy had no idea as to exactly what was done. I don't want to run 15psi on stock headbolts, and it's something I wanted to replace anyways. If the engine blows again, the car is going off a cliff. As for the maft-pro/emanage. Even if they don't figure out the timing control it's still almost cheaper than buying an safc and lexus afm... plus the idle from what I hear is sometimes shit with the lex... and tons more tuning points with emanage/maft plus I already have a laptop I can plug in and tune with :) |
Well for the clutch even, there's a place in Burlington(south of TO) called euro drive that does race clutches for porsches mostly...But they make them for supras as well, something like a 3200lb dual diaphram pp + kevlar disc is 380 cdn or so The HG might be for your peace of mind, but to do it 100% properly you gotta yank the whole motor and mill the head + block... Don't worry about 15psi on stock head bolts...I know people that have ran stock head bolts on big turbos and high boost levels for years haha The SAFC you can get for 150 US now, the lex afm you can get for 75 US at car-part.com The MAFT pro isnt that cheap...nor is the emanage - and remember for the MAFT you have to add the price of a GM maf sensor or their MAP sensor if you choose to go speed density....And with the emanage, the price doesnt include the MAP sensor either Believe me, at only 15psi you don't even need the extra tuning points If youre on a budget like I said....go FCD, boost controller + safc!
