exactly, since i want my car up and running. Buying a turbo and rebuilding the engine with reliable parts is qquite a bit of money. I'm not looking for anywhere near 700hp as it is going to be a daily driver.

What's a stock log?

islandsupra 12-21-2005 09:22 PM

the "log" is the stock log style exhaust manifold we have, i guess it is a bit of a restriction people say.

But....
http://www3.telus.net/joseph99/mani.jpg

like I said, bolt-on options are not entirely impossible.

Paradox 12-21-2005 10:28 PM

thats far too much work for a stock CT :D

islandsupra 12-21-2005 10:32 PM

but maybe not for a sp bolt-on :)

Not sure about runner length, but apparently it works great so far... can't be any worse than stock!! It's nice to be able to just take a part off, and put another one on without worrying about anything else - especially when it comes to turbo's and the person isn't aiming to re-fab half the car. Perfect for the jackass like me who doesn't know how/have the motivation or money to do something like that.

NashMan 12-22-2005 12:06 AM

Whatsup guys, I'm new to supras and just found this thread. It's good to see that there are lots of supra owners on the island. I just wanted to let you know that theres another one now and i'm definately interested in making it fast(er).
I bought it(87 turbo) in october and it came with cold air, bov and a short shift kit. I don't think the guy who had it before me took very good care of it, so it needs some work. It was running real smooth until recently, it sounds like i've got a worn out bearing on a connecting rod so i'm going to take (tow) it in for a rebuild. I was thinking I'd have a metal headgasket put in while i'm at it, just wondering if you guys might have some other suggestions as to what to troubleshoot while the motor's open.
cheers

Paradox 12-26-2005 01:38 AM

awesome man, welcome to the world of fun!

islandsupra 12-26-2005 02:13 AM

hey, welcome!! nice to see another one around.
Definitely buy a new oil pump (from toyota) and there's a few "mods" you can do there as well to help the oiling system. Also don't forget to have your timing cover machined with the block if you do a metal headgasket!! I've heard quite a few people forgetting that and having to go back to the shop a second time... if you need any help there's a lot of info available here and all the guys are good.
Also, I"m sure you already know but check out supraforums.com for anything you could possibly want to know! Don't buy parts before you check with us too, lots of deals to be had out there :)
