so every one knows the lex thottle body does not bolt up to the 7m intake flange but i going to make it work for me thou ps stock is 50mm and the lex is 70 mill so i think this will be good thottle body to use cause really who needs a 80mm |
I cruised up beside a white mk3 with exhaust today, driven by some guy with funny hair :p It was on Hillside, near cook, I think...I was the black s14 that half-waved, then slammed on the brakes :lol |
TURBO..... So I went down to the shop today where my engines being done so I could figure out what thickness mhg to order. When i was there i had a look at my turbo because the afm was off and there's a chip on one of the blades!!! i'm not really sure how it happened, i'm assuming it's been like that since before i got it because i haven't noticed a difference in power. Anyways now i'm thinking i need to be looking for a new turbo so i was going to seek out come advice from people on the board here. I'm considering going for a 62-1 ct-26 but i'm open to people's opinions and recommendations. What do you guys think? ...i also found out that my car didn't come with the claimed porsche BOV but instead an air return. I had just thought that the bov valve spring was maybe stuck. I figured out a little while ago, after i stopped driving it, that the turbo was surging....oh well i guess i need to fix that problem too. -fletch |
i wouldnt get the 62-1, its just too big, and wont last long... nashman got a 57 trim, and it was a great upgrade over stock. not alot of extra lag, but a nice boost in power. |
I'm a big fan of the 60-1 ct personally And a friend of mine locally pulled slightly on a 470rwhp car. had a gt40 wheel in a ct26 @ 22psi on 102 octane As long as it's built well and balanced properly...You can stuff a pretty big wheel in there |
so how do those turbo's compare to the sp61gt? vs. the 62-1 or 57 trim etc... i'm trying to put into perspective the difference between them all. The reason i ask is because i've got a sp61gt on the way. |
man there is ton of turbo's out there so you really got to look at it this way what do you use your cr for and what do you want ti to drive like as for upgrade ct26's it veries from wheel size to wheel size on what you plan to do with it if you want the most trubo possible 62 to 1 has the most flow and will be the drag trubo combined wiht no2 you can get well inot the 500 rang of power at like 27 psi any more the no2 can not cool it no more as for the 57 it the smallest one and the only small one i whould ever run i ran this one and lnew it whoudl have shot over 400 wiht this turbo and she has liek dick for lag i notice less when i built up my car wiht this turbo i got 13.8 @111mph wiht eh 57 trim ct26 on stock fule as for chipps inthe blade ummm really depends on how big it is and how muhc play you have in turbo |
Honestly...It really depends on your power goals That's the first thing you need to know :) Quote:

Yes it's easily capable of that...It's better than a CT upgrade in probably every category except for spool up...But given that it's bigger, that's to be expected anyways Quote:

Well, I finally started pulling the head off todayafter school... first day in a long time that it hasn't rained!! Almost got far enough to pull the head off, but got stuck when trying to get the downpipe off - it was being a bitch. But now all I have to do is pull the bottom lines of the turbo and pull it off then the head will come off! I don't know if I should replace anything else right now... I'll probably buy new injector seals (they were pretty brittle) and get the intake cleaned. I dont know what else to look for really though - except for the typical "replace all the gaskets and hoses" stuff. Hopefully the rain will hold off for a few days and I'll have it fixed by the weekend! |
good to hear rueben :) MY CAR ON THE OTHER HAND LOL... i bought ryans intake so im going to be giddy about taht for awhile.. and i found out that my front tires r cooked today.. and wont balance.. they have plenty of tread left but.. wont balance :( thats whats causing my high speed shimmy.. or at least the start of it.. so now i guess i have to buy a new set of tires for the front to match the back.. ugh. |
hey does anyone know a local place to get my exhaust manifold ported? Tim at SP suggested i do this to help with flow for my sp61gt. What about those ebay ones, aren't those only available in a t4 flange. |
Just do it yourself with a dremel...You'll go through a ton of bits and take alot of time, but it's far cheaper than extrude honing Stock manifold will support over 500rwhp anyways... Ebay ones are t4 flange, too much trouble since you already got a bolt-on turbo Quote:

if u wanted to, u could try kinetic motorsports not sure if they r listed as surrey or langley.. im sure they would be able to help u or do it.. |

The thing about the dremel bits is that i'd need a dremel tool. also i have no clue now much would be too thin or not enough for that matter. but i'll look at kinetic, i've heard lots abot them i kind of want to find another place.. time to break out the phone book. :) |
Dremel kit....I got mine at princess auto for 18 bucks last sale. With bits, flex shaft and all :) Quote:

you love that flex shaft don't you get into thosu hard top reach places eh lol |
hey rubuy take the trubo off the manfold and such befor poping the head off that freakign head is pretty heavy |
hey toby do you want that oil cooler any time soon and do you think i cna borrow your die grinder |
we're taking the turbo off the manifold tomorrow, everything is unbolted and basically ready to pull off. just ran into problems trying to get the downpipe off the studs and not having the car jacked up (lack of proper tools all together). Tomorrow if it doesn't rain we'll pull the head off and I got someone here that will help me :) hopefully take it in for machining tomorrow as well. I'd like to have everything finished by the weekend if I can. |
Damn man, you're a slowass! It's like a 4 hour job :p Quote:
