not when I hardly know what I am doing :p We worked in it for about 3hrs yesterday, hoping it won't take long today to finish it up.
It'll probably take way longer to put it all back together though lol. Hopefully I can get it finished up by the weekend :) (if it doesn't start raining again)

Enraged 02-07-2006 05:31 PM

4 hour job? whoops... im about 15000 hours overdue... :lol

islandsupra 02-07-2006 05:59 PM

hehe... well honestly I don't think it's a 4 hour job! It took another 2 hours or so today to pull the head off and strip it down and have it ready to go to the machine shop.
The gasket was actually still on pretty good shape, there was just a little bit of damage on the exhaust side near the #6 cyl (typical). The head isn't really warped at all - could hardly see under the straight edge. At the shop they said they only have to mill it a few thou and I'll have it back tomorrow :)

But onto my question now - do you guys know if it's possible (without too much troubles) to put the head back on with the engine in the car if I use ARP studs?

Enraged 02-08-2006 01:49 PM

its easy... put the head on, THEN put the studs in.... its only hard if you put the studs in first, then attempt to drop the head on...

NashMan 02-09-2006 01:27 AM

yup just as toby said cause when arp frist made studs for the supra they did not have have alen head's on them so ti is impoosilbe to tighten down the stud into the block

once arp did this it the made the bolt obsolet kinda like 286 computer is now

islandsupra 02-09-2006 07:10 AM

alright, got'cha. I didn't know if you could do it that way or not.

arturiusma7 02-09-2006 07:20 AM

so $$$$$$$$ will make me a 22x9x3 intercooler... i think its a good size :) and they will do it for 330+tax... sorry i dunno if im allowed to post prices.. but i did :) also ive been listening to ryan.. and MAFTPRO does alot more then i thought LOL... they even made it have its own boost controller which i didnt know about... so i think microtech is out the door... with its price tag thats 3 timesa s much as maft:)

Enraged 02-09-2006 05:05 PM

it's a great ic

Gen4TurboCiv2 02-09-2006 09:27 PM

The intercooler we may get Devin is good to 30psi with airflow to 750hp.

BTW Ryan, your schwag is on route!:)

fletch 02-09-2006 10:29 PM

Hey guys,
I'm posting to see if anyone knows the measurements for the block and head(7m). I know that the stock hg is 1.2 mm, but we're having trouble finding what the stock measurements are for the rebuild. So far I haven't seen anything in th repair manual about these speces. Also, what point are you supposed to measure from? If anyone knows that would be great because i need to know what size mhg to order and i don't want to raise/lower compression.
The guy i bought it from said it had been rebuilt, but i don't think it has so i have no idea if the head or block have already been machined(or not).

BTW i posted this on supraforums and so far no reply...

NashMan 02-10-2006 11:22 PM

NashMan 02-11-2006 12:49 AM

well i wounder whould i get maft translator and run the emange setup or got maft pro hummm

the bad part is this will all be new to chris if i run a diffent setup what do you gusy think caus ei wonte be needing timing control as much as befor whe i want to run nos

Enraged 02-11-2006 09:09 PM

maft pro, use it to control boost as well.

Paradox 02-11-2006 10:15 PM

how exactly does one rate a i/c by horse power?

no offense chris, just curious since so many cars, turbos and setups will be running vast differences in temperatures and even how the air is pushed.

NashMan 02-12-2006 09:54 AM

from the cfm they can hold and still bebale to cool at the same time

but most it all about cfm

NashMan 02-12-2006 09:56 AM

arturiusma7 02-12-2006 01:20 PM

ugh i just read the 39 pages of supramania info on the maftpro... only questions on the thing is the hac mod..i dont see any reason why ill need timing control at my power levels and goals for the next couple years... but looks like when i do buy it im going to be buying a wideband at the same time just to make it all go well...
