warped rotors, or even buildup of break pad material on the rotor. if it was a bearing, it would probably be noticable on one specific side. was it on one side, or just a general front end vibration?

both sides.. it doesnt pull when braking.. i wouldnt doubt the rotors r warped.. it feels like that to be honest. my rotors r like a mirror.. so i wouldnt doubt thats it.. and it would be nice since i can get brembo blanks front and back, with ceramic pads for the front and semi metallic for the back for 360ish taxes in.. hm. maybe that will be next on my list...

| BPU!
Let me start off by saying holy shit and thanks to nashman.
On saturday I went over to his place at 2 to install my new blow off valve and do a little tuning. Thought it would take about 2 hours..haha well i didn't leave until about 11 but it was worth it!
Heres what we did,
started of by taking the car apart, got rid of all the AC components and cruise control (neither of which worked anyways) and power steering. The junk pile got pretty big and heavy, we figured it lost about 80lbs.
Next, off comes the afm and the screw gets backed out. Then Ryan says, "let do hardpipes!". Ok. So we go to mhome depot, pick up some plumbing supplies and head back to work on the car. While ryan's going to work pulling the IC he says, "take that grinder and go chop off your muffler." ..umm, ok. I was hesistant at first because i didn't want the car to be loud, but ryan can be very persistant. The exshaust piping was crushed right before my (stock) muffler anyways so i chopped it off. Ryan was right, not even that loud, sounds good! Anyone want a stock muffler? We pulled all the old IC pipes and mocked up the new ones and they fit the first time. We glued them together and painted them while waiting for the glue to dry. It was a bit of a gong show getting everything to fit right but it worked out in the end. The pipes went on, bov installed and with everything back in place we fired it up. No problems and worked the first time, we let it warm up and advanced the timing.
Because Ryan did so much work he decided he should take the car for a dig, no problem. Like i said, holy shiet, what a difference! It was like i'd been pulling a piano behind my car before, the car just took off! I'm sure I had the stupidest grin on my face, that was a lot of fun.
It cost a total of $60 including an accordian pipe from ryan and piping from home depot, best 60 bucks i've spent lately. Thanks for helping me out ryan!
I love this car, everytime i get home i dont want to get out haha.
*Edit*oh yah, we shimmed the wastegate too
The only problem i've had so far is the check enine light has com on a couple times when i've just been idling and the engine will either stutter a few times or stall...? any ideas.
Also i think the oil pressure sensor got bumped so i need to hook it back up.
Thanks again Ryan!
cheers,
-fletch

its all mild grade steel. 2.25 from turbo to ic, then 2.5 from ic, turns into 3" going right into the throttle body. has a port for the stock bov right now, but that can be taken out by ryan im sure :P it was also done with flux cord, and i have not ground it all down but im not big on looks. more purpose |

Well.. I got my 89 tails on on saturday, which is the first part off my other car to come onto the 87. Next will be the hatch/wing. Also, I represented for us on the poker run yesterday, which was alot of fun, minus the nasty sunburn to my face.

| FUCK!!!!
OK, so here's my story:
I got the car running a few days ago after doing my hg and getting everything buttoned up. Other than the battery being dead and a lead being broken that took a few minutes to find, it started up and idled like a champ - first try. Of course there's a catch though..... shit, leaking injectors. So whatever, no big deal. Get the new seals, except they said they had them is stock, but only had 5, not 6. Whatever, put them in and get everything back together. Flash it up first try, awesome. Perfect idle.. bit of smoke till all the oil burns off then she's golden.
Until.... (of course there's more problems, it's never that easy) So yeah now I put it in gear, pull out of the driveway and choke myself on white smoke spewing out of the exhaust side. Hmm, weird. Maybe I just need to burn it off... nope, go up and down the street and smoke everyone out at the same time lol. I thought it was pretty funny (maybe the half sac of beer I drank while changing the seals) - which turns out to be the only upside of this story... cold beer on a warm day
So yeah I have no idea what the problem could be! Anyone have any ideas at all?!
I'm going to drive it to the college tomorrow or later tonight (when there's no traffic) and I guess get it torn down again and find tha dam problem hopefully. Just so much easier to have it done there than to fight with it in my driveway.
I looked for lines that we might have missed and forgot to hook up. Nope. I dunno... but it definitely seems like it's coming from the exhaust side, and the car was fine under idle and only happened when I put it in gear and pulled out of my driveway. Could it be a turbo seal? I never lost any oil before or smoked. I doubt it could be but I have no idea. The smoke smelled like coolant to me, but after I pulled back into the driveway there was a spot of oil on the curb where I was parked.
Any insight would be great, hopefully it'll all be figured out in the next day or 2. If not... look forward to a video of my car driving off a cliff into the ocean while it's on fire!! |

frist off your oil drain or oil feed is leaking use 2 crush washer on thous for extra insurace and stuff leak's suck
as for white smoke 2 things
bhg or blown turbo seal's easy way to cheak this is just cheak your plugs if there tan then your turbo has failed and they do fail by sitting
ps have fun
