Hey Im looking for a new engine for my 88 NA. I have a bad case of the normal rod knock, thought it was the valves! I want to go turbo, I know this is brought up very often but if anyone is willing to let me know if its worth the conversion PM me or reply on here! Im looking for average prices, average labor time, any other things im going to need. Im from Duncan, I drive a Red 88 with charcoal sawblades. Later.

it's more than worth the upgrade, I honestly wouldn't spend the money to put another na in, when for a couple hundred more you could have the turbo motor.

As far as prices, it really varies. (loacal) importers can charge anywhere between around 700-1100 from what I saw when I needed a motor last summer. I was lucky enough to find a whole parts car with a good engine for not much more than that.

If you have the time to wait and look around, I'm sure you can find a decent deal. I'll keep my eyes/ears open.

Sounds like me. I just picked up an 89 turbo parts car, and planning on doing the swap. Hopefully you can find something for relatively cheap, since it will save you big time.

We did the swap into my roommate's 86.5 NA... he loves the turbo now... it's not really that hard.

i was lookin around on ebay, complete rebuild kits are about $200, including all gaskets, pistons, rings, bearings, etc, so i might pick up a second motor lol

im not keeping the sprint, as soon as i have another car, i need the sprint gone ASAP. if one of you guys wants it, you can buy it, beat on it, burn it, i dont care, but i cant have 3 cars, not enough driveway space, and it pisses off the parents.
