Cool, I'm thinking of picking up a used SAFC2 off of supraforums for $175 shipped...I don't think he knows I'm in Canada ;) Is that a decent deal? I've looked on eBay and it seems like that is a reasonable price. |
that's not a bad deal man... I bought my safc1 for I think 150 US, then I sold it locally a short while ago for 180 when my headgasket blew lol. I'm sure ryan or one of the guys in victoria could point you in the direction of a good machine shop. I had mine resurfaced at Thompson's Automotive in Nanaimo and they are good guys. I know they've rebuilt a few other 7M heads and a complete motor or 2 in the past. I guess you gotta decide what your goals are powerwise/what your budget is and I'm sure some of us could at least point you in a general direction. PS - don't forget about the suspension!! swaybars are still the single best thing I've done to my poor car. |
SAFC Well, it turns out it was 175 without shipping, so it came to 206 and that damn paypal fee :P But oh well, honest guy and I hope to get it soon. Does anybody have wiring diagrams? |
http://www.pxi.ath.cx/vis/tech/s-afc/afc.html thats for the first gen but the wiring is very similiar, just work it vs the haynes manual, its easy done. |
all you got to do diffent is hook up the nock sencer and you cna pick eather one i sujest the rear nock sencer since it will ahve the most nock |
|
LOL, that's so good. |
i was going to use deer call but mabe a duck caller might be good ' |

oh yae nice meeting you gusy at tim's tonight it's bena awheil since i sean mk3 there |
778-908-4687. just gimmie a call when ur off work. and well figure it out.. |
well i fabed up the 91 v6 brakes it is no go in less you want to run less pad on the rotor witch = ant better then stock i gonna try the 95 plus ones there goig to be more exp but there alot lighter cause there made of aumlin and such in stead of cast steel |
so you were planning to run the v6 calipers on stock sized rotors? if so, there wouldnt be much of an advantage. bigger rotors would help along with bigger calipers, as i bet you can lock up the stock brakes already, and a larger caliper isnt going to help with fade. |
well the reson for it is this faster brake respones and tighter feel and you pad will not muchrom under hard breaking like the stock ones teend to do as asfor riding your brakes there not going to help to much it will be better but not liek light and day another way to amke the per 91 and up capler to work is to use tt rotor but then you only be useing soem of it and it kidna look funny |
Hey Ryan, what kind of boost controller are you using? I'm looking around for a boost gauge/controller. Maybe the greddy profec b spec 2? I don't plan on upgrading my turbo for a while ... is it even possible to hook one of these bad boys up with a CT? |
i whoudl really nto bother wiht a boost control just yet just shim it or bring it over to my house and do power package for you promes a light and day diff when i am done |
Sounds good :) I'd like to pick your brain on what/how I should go about building up a 2nd motor. Right now my 7M is clackin' something fierce (well not THAT bad). I wouldn't mind just coming by to see your "Lab" :) |
I was in "the lab" last night. Scary, scary shit. He honestly wouldnt let me leave without modifying my car in some form (SOGI short shifter + silver tape ftw). |
