Well, the plan is early new year...Unless I find an apprenticeship here but the chances of that as I've found out the last 2 years....are very very slim :p

TobyCat 08-31-2006 06:27 AM

I just picked up insurance for the supra, 1158 for the year. Man, sucks to be in Ontario.

New at jaymarks/champion you can get a harness for like 325USD or so if I remember right - It differs depending on the year and turbo/nonturbo. Pricey, yea....But it's not soooo bad.

Tonight i went out for the lsat time this season to the 1/4 mile track so i knew i had better get my car into the 13's. so i pushed it as hard as i could and on my street tires i muster'd a 2.11 60ft and a 13.8 @100 mph ET im so happy with this. ive been fighting with my car all year to get it into the 13's.
Mods:
3" downpipe, testpipe, catback to megan n1 muffler
custom 2.5" hardpipes
14 degree timing
cone filter
shimmed wastegate plus MBC set to 13 psi.

im super excited right now Upgraded supra, BTZ and a few others were down there as witness

Mod a bit more so you can run 18psi or so on the stock ct, tune it...Run some slicks and you'll be good for mid 12's if you get a good launch

arturiusma7 09-02-2006 12:38 PM

haha yea well i would put more money into it if i wasnt in college.. im pretty strapped for money lately. plus i wouldnt wanna run 18 psi on the stock ct.. unless i put on a different intercooler and such.. buti n that case i would just upgrade the turboanyways

Dont buy into the stuff you here on supraforums...18psi on a stock ct is perfectly fine. Plus it's cost effective - Much cheaper than going with a diff. turbo
Stock IC will cool it fine...If youre worried about cooling, throw on some meth injection or run some xylene mix - Done :)

arturiusma7 09-02-2006 12:42 PM

lol true enough.. but id still need a lex or VPC or something along those lines.

Well if you're all about doing it on a budget
FCD + SAFC will do all of that for you

arturiusma7 09-02-2006 12:56 PM

ehh i wouldnt feel safe running a FCD unless i had a wideband.. i mean i should have a wideband with any set up but yea. when im done school the motor is getting pulled ot be rebuilt so ill decide what im going to do then.. im hoping to just go full standalone. which will be easily obtainable. Microtech :)

Well any time the fuel's messed around with you should have a wideband...They start at $200 now, pretty affordable. But honestly...You can run 15-18psi on a stock ct, leave the fuel alone, keep the stock afm....the stock FPR is rising rate, the chances of running lean are VERY minimal. In fact if anything, youll be running rich
Microtech standalone...Never heard of them
The MS2(megasquirt) is supposed to be pretty user friendly from what I hear

arturiusma7 09-02-2006 01:07 PM

Microtech is big in australia.. very big actually. they are just starting to make a name over here in north america. a couple guys in the US are running it and a lot of people around the Vancouver area. but yea if i do decide to do anything more it will be getting a wideband. although i alrdy know im running over 10:1 afr at WOT according to multiple dyno afr readings

NashMan 09-02-2006 02:16 PM

hummm

arturiusma7 09-02-2006 02:27 PM

NashMan 09-02-2006 04:46 PM

Of course they're not the "good" way....But if you're on a budget, it'll work fine. Hell, I know a guy here running 22psi on a to4 wel over 400whp with a stock afm and just an safr to tune...stock fuel pump, stock clutch too

NashMan 09-02-2006 05:19 PM

i see

TobyCat 09-03-2006 11:03 PM

heh.

Well, looks like I'm gonna need to be working on my car a bit ... came back after lunch and had a nice pool of oil waiting for me on the ground. So, there it sits at my girlfriend's house waiting for me to figure out wtf is wrong with it. I'm thinking turbo oil lines because it doesn't drip after the engine has cooled down / no pressure.
