Renthal 09-17-2007 09:14 AM

exxcellent.. when would be a good time to come over and scavange?

AVNGinger 09-17-2007 07:19 PM

Im picking up these rims Gram Lights 57F

they are 8.5 wide but regardless if i choose the 7.5 wide or the 8.5 wide it says the tire size for my car should be 225 wide, how wide can you go on a 8.5" wide rim without sacraficing performance and safety, furthermore, is that too wide for the supra to worry about rubbing *im lowered 2.5 from stock all round* and furthermore to that, would it make more sense to go 225/40/18 on front and 245/40/18 on back? I remember hearing that different sizing upsets balance.

haha yeah, but i have realized 2 things about dealing with supras this long. 1) 95% of supras are rusted, so ill make this one rust free and make it so it will never rust again and 2) id like to do up my first car so when im old i can say i still have my first car, and besides, im ordering a jdm 1jz and stroking it to 2.8L

Enraged 09-17-2007 07:36 PM

for tires, you should be fine with 245s or so on all 4 corners. get a good tire, ask nashman, he goes through tires fast

NashMan 09-17-2007 10:11 PM

if have power wide is the best bet my front rims are wider then yours

i still spin my 275's

and i have not even put big power down yet

ps cut out rust that way it wiull not come back

AVNGinger 09-18-2007 12:49 PM

yeah im thinking of going with yokohama advan neova's for tires

and yeah nash its all getting cut and welded, so it will never come back *knock on wood*

Renthal 09-18-2007 05:20 PM

what kinda performance parts do u got for sale ryan?

NashMan 09-18-2007 09:21 PM

Gross, 245's in the front? Silly! If you like having your car being *pulled* into grooves and recesses on the highways sure.

NashMan 09-19-2007 12:44 PM

i plan to run 245 up front there is no down fall fomr it it all comes down to the tire in that case

perrie p zeros are bad for that

Enraged 09-19-2007 07:17 PM

245s too skinny you mean? i'll be running 255s front, 275s rear on MKIV wheels.

NashMan 09-20-2007 12:36 AM

255 up front is a bit much taken streering away blows goat plus u will have to use spacers

ps my tendon snap today

TobyCat 09-20-2007 02:48 AM

No, 245 is too big in the front. The thicker the tire is, the harder it is to drive on streets where there are grooves from wear/over weight vehicles (ie mckenzie, quadra, douglas etc.) as it pulls you into those grooves.

NashMan 09-20-2007 07:57 AM

dude it is all based on the tire and it's called tracking on how well your cars blet will react to the uneven pavment

trust me on this

Enraged 09-20-2007 04:24 PM

i could care less about tracking, just makes you pay attention when driving.

Enraged 09-21-2007 11:52 AM

Whats an 86.5-88 nonturbo auto with 161,000 km worth, assuming a good engine/trans and ok body?

TobyCat 09-21-2007 12:28 PM

-auto
-non turbo
+decently low km
+body in good shape
= $1200-1600
