he is a good friend of mie i have know for yeasr and i have done some work on it over the yeasr

Island_Yota 02-09-2009 08:26 AM

still havnt done my heater core, motor is showing low oil pressure still, I think il put a new relief valve in but it still has a blow-by issue too, either way I cant drive it how it is, think I found a GTE to replace the tired GE though.

Enraged 02-09-2009 08:49 AM

there comes a point where its cheaper/less stress just to put in a new motor...

Yeah I think its time, the 7MGE seems to run great, but the oil pressure stopped going above 2.5kg/cm2, it used to run alot higher in higher RPM's. It blows the dipstick out of the tube, consumes more oil than it should.. I could pull it and rebuild it which makes sence but its less work to drop in an already rebuilt motor. Im almost positive my throw out bearing is toast too(clutch pedal vibrates pretty bad if I have it pushed in and rev the motor) plus the clutch is the original(it works perfect) but its old so my best bet is to pull the motor and trans id think. I just dont know how practical a 7MGTE will be with a W58 and 4.30's though.

What all do I need for the swap, so far I know I need:

87/88 Turbo ECU(my car is an 88)
Throttle Cable/Linkage
Some kind of resistor? for the tach.

what else will I run into with the swap?

Hopefully I can pick this motor up atleast, im not sure if he wants to sell it yet.

I've got a spare GTE head that one of you can have, for free.

I don't own Supras anymore, and it's taking up space in my shed. It's complete with valves, cams, etc.

NashMan 02-09-2009 10:39 AM

Gimme a shout when you want it! Apparently it's been resurfaced.

Enraged 02-10-2009 08:56 PM

stupid tires are expensive. got a set of yoko avid s/t for the celica, almost $500. only alternative was a set of used BFGs for $10 less, or brand new BFGs for $130/tire. no good tires in 14" anymore :(

Fleemer 02-10-2009 10:31 PM

try federal ss595 or 595 tires.

cheap and i hear they are great

(i'm using them for drifting and they live up to the claim of taking abuse ^_^)

NashMan 02-11-2009 10:19 AM

wreacking yard dude there tone sof shitty old crappy tires to choose form

called malahat, didnt have anything in the right size (i need all 4).

oh well, getting the last 2 tires mounted and balanced after work.

NashMan 02-11-2009 03:14 PM

avids are so shitty too well tjhat sucks oh well they roll right

Paradox 02-11-2009 04:38 PM

is the hatch glass the same size for 86.5 and 89+? not the hatch but just the glass itself.

Enraged 02-11-2009 05:19 PM

the avids are better than the BFGs from all I could find on the celica forums. not a huge deal either way, car will be easier to sell with good tires instead of bald tires.

shenmecar 02-11-2009 06:22 PM

^

and a cd player too

mr_baboon 02-12-2009 10:11 PM

No. Not allowed. Keep it proper. The car isn't going to run for another year anyway, even if you use pushlocks.
