Island_Yota 02-14-2009 02:07 PM

So.. GTE guy never got back to me. :( Guess im stuck with the dying GE for now, im running out of time to swap it out.

Anyone ever deal with Summitracing? I want to order the energy bushing sets unless someone has some lying around, my car needs an alignment, maybe this is a good time to lower it a bit too? Nash you still have those struts/springs?

baboon, do you have the trim pieces still?

Renthal, you better get a video of that!

Enraged 02-14-2009 02:31 PM

i bought my energy set from george at raptor racing. they are in ontario, contact info is on Supramania in the vendors section.

you could try Chris at $$$$$$$$ for the motor. whoever you buy it from, post how much you paid, I'm entertaining the idea of rebuilding a second motor.

wes-harrison 02-14-2009 03:05 PM

hey do any of you guys know someone sellin a 7mgte for a swap or anything? doesnt matter about the shape as i wont be swappin till summer..but would give me time to clean it all up and stuff...other things that i am interested in buyin are some springs...and i need a burgundy ashtray for my front dash..thanks.

Dentz 02-16-2009 11:00 AM

test pipe/down pipes!

Maybe an underdrive pulley too.

wes-harrison 02-16-2009 04:30 PM

thanks man that would be wicked..just let me know if you find it and il come pick it up...and yea i have seen the detailed part list for the swap/intructions but figured it would be 10 times easier if i could find all the parts locally and just pick them up..i figure that someone will at least a partial swap just sittin around...but yea ur right..any extra parts i need il just search ebay or check out supraforums...unless someone offers up over 3000 il just keep my car...i love it aha

So, If I were to lighten up my Mk3 and keep it a comfortable daily driver what would I get rid of? So far I can think of: AC crap, Rear wiper assembly, gut the drivers seat.. then again thats only maybe a 75lb loss at the most probably wont even notice it. The only ones I want to do are Aluminum 1pc shaft and something lighter than Sawblades and get rid of the A/C(condenser leaked anyway).

extreme id say:

Sound deadening
Power steering
Rear seats
Radio/speakers
Spare/tools
luggage cover/spare cover board
rear carpet and seats
Aluminum rad

etc etc..

amazing what can be done, yeah I could see some issues with weight balance for sure though and maybe weight transfer issues with the rear floor cut out. Now if we were talking track use only all of the stuff you did +

custom aluminum rear subframe, lexan windows, gutted doors, aluminum dash, no passenger seats, carbon hood, starting with a hardtop would help too. I doubt you could dip lower than 2600 though. Thats why I think it would be alot more rewarding to start with a car that's already under 3000 pounds (Mk2) so I dont think id start with an Mk3 in the first place. That and I love the "luxuries" of the mk3. I normally daily drive a piece of shit 83 Toyota pickup, rusted out floors, unbalanced 35's and 4:10's, the lift springs in it are super stiff, shocks are el cheapo ones. Driving the supra is amazing after driving that thing around for a few months.

NashMan 02-16-2009 06:28 PM

well the mk2 is a nice car my buddie gutted his the same way i did mine pretty much ectpe a littel bit mroe hard core still glass windows and such

but 2700 pounds

but the mk2 has some faults with it's spention but the best part about the car is were the engine sit's compared to the mk3

but all in all i like the mk3 better because it more stable and speeds and has beter sespention

NashMan 02-16-2009 07:50 PM
