Island_Yota 07-10-2009 04:40 PM

Still having coolant problems. What headgasket should I go with on an n/a? a Fel-pro? stock bolts? 72ft/lbs?

Renthal 07-10-2009 05:10 PM

arp studs and bolts
i've heard the stock toyota one is a great headgasket
but the fel pro is ok too
if u get the gasket kit from toyota you'll get every dam gasket you'll need while you are in there

Not really going for the bling parts on the N/A, Looking for a turbo motor to rebuild instead but in the mean time I need my car haha.

NashMan 07-10-2009 06:05 PM

just get one that is cheep and do it right and you will have no issues

The "Topline" gasket set on ebay is like $90, think il just go with that, The motor needs valve cover gaskets, valve stem seals and a timing belt anyway. Theres also a set made by "Stone" I hear they are decent quality too, $80 for that set.

Its perfectly fine to torque the stock bolts down to 72ft/lbs though right?

NashMan 07-11-2009 12:42 PM

just get one form world pack or some thing since you live in mill bay go to malahat auto and auto a gasket kit form them

that kit is good and has every thing you need and price very fair

TobyCat 07-14-2009 07:27 AM

still need help with your struts and springs? I can come over to Ryan's place and lend a hand (done them on my car way too many times ;) ). Besides, somebody needs to whip Ryan into working on his car!

wes-harrison 07-14-2009 09:19 AM

yea i still gotta do it...im goin into lordco to get some front struts this week but im busy on the weekend...im fine to just use kyb g2's with my lowering springs right?..and does sumtime next week work for u guys?

NashMan 07-14-2009 10:00 AM

next week sure i guess

kyb yae you can use em there better ones out there thou if you don't have tight buject

wes-harrison 07-14-2009 10:06 AM

well i already have the rear kyb's...i could take em back if it was really worth it..but if these will work i guess il keep em

TobyCat 07-14-2009 11:09 AM

Bilstein and Eibach is the classic supra setup. I've run tokico blues but with shitty intrax springs...I'm sure KYB's are fine, they are pretty popular. But hot damn Lordco charges you through the nose for performance parts.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and bought a set of used Tein HAs from Japan. I think with all the shipping they came to $700?

NashMan 07-14-2009 02:21 PM

really i getting set of new set of jic's when that day comes around

kyb's are tad soft compared to tokio bules or blistain

TobyCat 07-15-2009 07:50 AM

JIC2's are awesome, the quality is really good. I didn't buy those simply because the spring rates are so high.

If I were to do it again and build a more sporty/track car, I'd probably go with Cuscos. The half set I had were top notch and weighed next to nothing.

NashMan 07-15-2009 11:28 AM

jic does have the lux line nice and cumfy yet sporty but i havbe not herd much reviews on them

Island_Yota 07-15-2009 10:43 PM

have some audio stuff im not using, looking for some wheels/tires or interesting Supra stuff.

two JL W0 10" subs, no box.
Alpine MRP350 mono block amp
cheap wiring kit.
Soundstream 6x9's

TobyCat 07-17-2009 06:24 AM

Man, hey Rick! Yeah, still in Vic. How about you?
