sorry to jump in here fellaz, but I gotta ask a quick Supra related question.

From my understanding Supra owners that are chasing high HP numbers go with single turbo setups most if not all of the time (I'm talking 4 digit hp #'s)
reason for that would be obvious, you can hit higher numbers with huge single turbos

but for other Supra owners who just want a decent amount of streetable HP (nothing too crazy nowhere near the 1000hp mark) they are able to fully use for daily driving, they are more likely to do so with the stock or even aftermarket twin turbo setups correct ?
reason for this would again be obvious since twin turbos give you more usable boost all over the RPM range

^ does that sound about right ? I mean from a general point of view, I'm sure there's details and other factors and whatnot, but is this the general consensus on the subject by Supra owners ?? big single turbo for insane HP, and twin turbo works just fine if you're not planning on going near the 1000 hp mark.

reason I ask is I was in another thread and mentioned the same thing and a Supra owner jumped on me telling me I have no idea what the fuck I was talking about and went at me pretty hard. I have a feeling he was still stuck with the stock TT setup but was still dreaming of hitting 4 digit HP with it, and I was killin his dream with what I was sayin...

I've driven around a 95 TT myself for a few months left to me to use from a friend who was on vacation, I was extremely impressed by the straight line speed of the car, it hauls ass.
I was going around 100 on the HWY between Nanaimo and Campbell River few years back at like 2am, nobody around, but had a Camaro blow past me doing 170+, floored it and caught up to him incredibly fast soon as I petal metaled it, and blew his doors off, I'm pretty sure I peed a little the Supra was crazy fast

It comes down to the appropriate choice of turbocharger(s) for the intended purpose of the vehicle, be it an upgraded twin setup or a single setup.

The differences between a (BIG) single and TT setup are very...well...different haha.

TT setups tend to build boost faster, especially in the case of sequential TT setups. So for quick boost response and a **peppy** throttle, the TT setup is great. When you go single turbo though, it doesn't have to be a BIG turbo. A medium sized turbo (GT30 or so, which is still big) will net you a nice combination of hard hitting boost and reasonable throttle response. The main difference between that and a TT setup is the fact that the boost build isn't as gradual as it is in a TT setup, its more of a ZOMGWTFZEROTOFIFTEEN+PSI somewhere between 2500 and 3500 rpm, depending on your trim of course.

If you want to be a dyno queen but have absolutely no reasonable place in driving on the street, yes a huge turbo is great for large numbers. It doesn't mean you'll go all that fast in a 1/4 mile.. you'll just make huge power that'll build really fast and hit hard for 1000rpm and make pretty lines on a computer screen.

Fast street cars can have TT setups, they're a bit outrageous and it's usually more economical to go with a reasonably sized single, and when it comes down to it you'll still make fairly big power, while keeping that power throughout the power band which = super-fun-go-times.

thanks for the explanation, but so yea that's what it is then, I knew I was on point with what I was saying

all the dyno and top speed Supra monsters I've seen over the years all have a huge single turbo setup, I've actually never seen a TT setup that goes over 1000whp mark (though I'm sure some exist) the point I was trying to make is big single turbo is the preferred choice for extremely high HP, while TT is much more fun and responsive for daily driving

you know the reson why you never see a tiwn setup go over 1000 cause it bloody cost a crap load for really no gains since the trubo will be runing in parale

there is 100o plus tiwn's out there but some of them are show boats

the new tiwn setup like i mention all ready is really the only good 2 turbo setup

only time i find twin to be use full in in duble bank enigne v6 to v8 since it will be easyer to plum then just one trubo but this chnages wiht every car thus the long list story

bllla bllla blasaa

you can do a single turbo kit for under $1000 that will support over 500rwhp. you can spend more and get different spooling characteristics, use things like billet compressor wheels, v-band exhaust housings, twin scroll spoll valves, etc. imho twins on an inline 6 aren't usually worth the cost. get into twins on a v6 or a v8 though, and it might be worth the cost.
