do the porsche or saab BOV's make a screeching sound at high rev's like the HKS or Greddy units?

NashMan 04-16-2002 07:07 PM

well i don't think i have leak but i did n't really test it all

but you never knw i kinda like poped it on kinda fast but i like putit on good this time so there will not be leak this time

but i was hitting my proper boost and such so i will have to test it once i get my ca ront eh road again when ever i get 2 dasy off to replace the bad head gasket that i think i got buti maybe wroung it passed the comp test but that does really tell much in less it is like really bad so persure test done to the coling system will comfirm this

wel i painted my 300 pipe it was to bright so i paint it black heheh look alot better plus a littel port and poils done tot he intake is all was good but the head will never be done caues that is big coin if you know what i mean

i herd the porshesa one does but the sab so far don't so it for me it sound like owl or some thign like that

i just bought what ever was in stock so sabb for me it will hold tell i get better one

plus they redisghed the sabb one it hold more psi now

the number i do not recall some one told me number but don't remmber

so paradox you still have not told me if you got icq

fuzebox 04-16-2002 08:18 PM

my comption is kinda high it like 9.2 plus the the head has bean shaved befor and same whihtt he block

when turbo's run like 8.4

and this is all ture as well

Uhh.... You want lower compression on a turbo car... Lower compression == more power from your boost. Higher compression == less power from your boost.

NashMan 04-16-2002 08:42 PM

um to serton amont of boost yes you can't boost that high when you have na pistons

i think the max i have sean was like 500 hp or some thing like that don't know all of his powe ibut he pulls 13 easy at 14 psi

the guys name is dean i have talked to him some times

but you just can't boost hoigh as the clouds

as other motors can

you seam to know your stuff man you bean around the car world havent you

here qestion for you i want to see if any of you guys know the answer to it

why does the mrk 3 blow head gasket's there are 2 answer's to this can you get em well they kinda run into each other as well

jeppordy begin's

Paradox 04-16-2002 10:47 PM

NashMan, yeah i have ICQ -- 12506475
and you might want to consider dropping the 3 page long signature, its wasting a lot of post space...

Fuzebox, do you have a supra? i saw your miata, looks clean :)

KultZero 04-17-2002 12:37 AM

I test drove an 86.5 auto Supra today, first time I've driven a Supra.

Gotta say there was less kick than I expected when I put my foot down. I could feel that the engine had potential, but there wasn't any performance to show for it. Is that normal with supras (or maybe just 86.5's or just autos) or is it likely that there was something wrong with the engine.

The chick who's selling it is hot :)

NashMan 04-17-2002 09:39 AM

naa na are great car but the auto thing is gay i find

5 speed na it fun great control so far i whould have to say better then when i whent to turbo motor

if you love na power go for a rx7 can't go wroung when you are buying a na lot of potentale but eh supra na will cost alot to get speed out of it

when i was thinking on rebuilding my na to get over 250 to 270 hp or some thing liek that i whould have had ot buy domed pistons buy this head from japan that whould cost me like 3000 to 4000 bucks then up grade the igntion ect

but i whould have died for that motor but it whould have cost alot and beat the liveing day lights out of any turbo out there even if it was liek pushing like 10 psi

caues na power kicks ass plus they sound mean ass as well

and as for the lng sig i notest that the other day it is kinda long ant it

NashMan 04-17-2002 09:41 AM

well doe snay one have clue what i asked befor name 2 thing why the mrk 3 motor blow head gasket so easy i give you a browning point on knowing you supras

SilverMK3 04-17-2002 02:12 PM

I've got an automatic NA 86.5 and I agree with you, I was surprised at how little kick it had off the line. But then you have to remember that the engine & suspension are nearly 16 years old. A stiffer suspension and a tune-up (maybe exhaust too) would give it a little bit more pep. Also, remember that you're pushing nearly 3700 lbs off the line so it'll take a lot of HP to feel a good kick. Once you get going tho, you'll "decimate all" especially once you hit 2nd or 3rd.

MKIII's were made for cruising, not for dragging. Its got more luxury components than any other performance import in its class, and still manages to haul ass. 200hp at the crank is still quite respectable for any NA motor, especially since you've only got 6 cylinders and 3 litres of displacement.

I'd say go for it as long as the car is in good shape. You can throw in a 5 speed transmission for pretty cheap later on if you don't like the auto.

Enraged 04-17-2002 02:21 PM

honestly, if you cant afford a turbo 5 spd model, dont settle for a NA. in the long run you will save money by just buying a turbo. and you might thing that you dont want that much power now, but 6 months after you buy the car and after getting roasted by turbos, youll want to upgrade.

the best cheapest idea if you have access to a shopwould be find a good turbo body mkiii with a blown engine, buy a used jap-spec engine (US$800 for a decent one with warranty) and drop it in.

Fuzebox, do you have a supra? i saw your miata, looks clean :)

My mother's boyfriend is going to sell me his black 89t/targa as soon as I can come up with the cash (ie. sell my Miata)...

I've been fixing up the miata and stuff, still waiting for a few things to get delivered, hoping to sell it within a month.

In preperation for getting the mkiii I've been doing a hell of a lot of reading over the past 4-5 months... Am on the SOGI list and supraforums.com.

Don't worry, I'll be cool one day :p

Enraged 04-17-2002 03:27 PM

remind me what mods it has done to it? how much are you buying it for? how much you selling your miata for? am i asking enough questions?

Paradox 04-17-2002 05:39 PM

Fuzebox,

thats some good thinkin' to get into the forums and such before you actually own the car. good way to learn beforehand :)

do tell us the mods and such, can u get some pics?

NashMan 04-17-2002 07:20 PM

well i loved my na great car can spin tire and all that crap but the handling is so nice and the power is full and respon i will never mock a person whiht na i beat turbo in my na when raceing down the windy roads caues that where na's kick asss

fuzebox 04-17-2002 09:34 PM

For mods, it has HKS intake, downpipe, and exhaust... other than upgraded AC (I want to pull that out anyway) that's it.

As for price... I'm not gonna tell you guys because you'll be jealous :)

I'd like to get around $8600 for my miata...

Paradox: Well I already was reading the Kill Stories on supraforums.com long before I decided to buy a mkiii, simply because I love MKIV's and it's the only place where people will post about killing vipers ;)

I signed up for the SOGI list to ask a few preliminary questions, now I read up hungrily every day for more info...

Nicer to know what you're doing :p

NashMan 04-17-2002 10:31 PM

i was on the post sogi thing i got like 100s of emails aday it drove me crazy i am more a form person and give out all of my info about cars and such

Paradox 04-17-2002 11:56 PM

yeah, i used to hit up newsgroups a lot for car info before too, cept theres really no good supra ones, err there wasnt back then atleast

KultZero 04-18-2002 02:27 PM

Personally, I'm more of a forum person. It really sucks to login to your email and get "You have 171 new messages". And yes, it has happened to me :)

About 120 a day sounds about right for me...

If I go for the weekend without checking my email, on monday morning I have 350+ to go through.

Not a big deal, that's what subjects are for.

NashMan 04-18-2002 05:07 PM

i chouod deal whiht all that stuff to many emials made me go crazy fi you want inof for me go on this thread and you will lern more

it getting kinda long to but hey who cars it our thread

all so whiht my new head gasket i am putting in i am allso going to pop in my na cams as well so it is all good plus i paint some parts on my engine

NashMan 04-18-2002 05:36 PM

i am still thinking on what head gasket to run

i can get the toyota upper end kit for like 300 bucks that has every thing i need even the toyota head gaskit

but i woundering if really should run an oem head gasket
or run felpro or other

and i know about the mhg thing but that is more work

so still know one knows why mrk 3 eat up head gaskets so much eh

Enraged 04-18-2002 09:58 PM

i emailed colt cams a few days ago, and for $350 they will regrind cams for high performance, but they suggested i get the lift and duration numbers from a reputable tuner.... maybe ill upgrade, one of the guys on supraforums just got a crazy cam, lumpier than most V8 cams apparanty. his idle goes from 450 to 900 hehe

NashMan 04-19-2002 05:16 AM

so no one knows the answer ot my Q&A

well here it is again why is it that mrk 3 eat so many gaskets

there is like a couple of aswer to it but really only one that counts

Because the factory torque settings on the head bolts are 56 ft/lbs when they should be 72ft/lbs...
