SilverMK3 12-14-2002 02:55 PM

Heh, I might race if I was fast - but I'm not so I'll wait till I do a GTE swap.

SilverMK3 12-14-2002 04:00 PM

Just got the pads - Ooooh, they're red! :D

MidnightMechanic 12-14-2002 04:07 PM

How hard is it to do the NA - 7MGTE swap?

Enraged 12-14-2002 04:31 PM

very very easy just slap the coils and ic and all that carp over it just bolt in no props in less you get liek 89 plus motre and that may be hard or vise a ver sa

MidnightMechanic 12-14-2002 04:44 PM

So say that i got an 86-87 Supra NA then got a clip or a motor (maybe J-spec?) it would be wiring, and fuel. What about the trans? I'd like to use the turbo trans, Id bet that it could take more hp. What about the driveshaft and differential?

Enraged 12-14-2002 05:02 PM

if you get a clip from canada or the US, everything is a direct swap. if you get a JDM clip, some things are different, ie engine harness, ECU, etc. the NA trans can hold around 400 rwhp before it grenades. if you could find a 87/88 NA with a BHG or dead motor for around $2-3000, then get a clip for around $2, it might be worth it, but its easier to just keep shopping around and find a decent turbo car.

MidnightMechanic 12-14-2002 05:04 PM

Ok thanks. I think that for me being frugal (haha), it would be in my best interest to find a supra with a BHG or something along that line as opposed to a NA - turbo swap.

Enraged 12-14-2002 05:21 PM

or you could do a 1jz swap... but thats a whole different story than the 7m...

MidnightMechanic 12-14-2002 05:22 PM

I think that I'd rather stay with the 7M. I could get a 86 Corolla GTS. I like those cars, no where near as fast as a supra but are light cheap and RWD.

Paradox 12-14-2002 05:43 PM

Theres that white 1990 Supra at Penbrake by sleg lumber

240,000k, automatic, BHG

lady wants 5k

its been sitting there for like 2-3 months. and that price shes asking is just stupid... im sure she could come down on that alot

its not in very good condition and could potentially need a new engine (head has yet to be removed to be certain it is a BHG). but its there if u want to take a look

MidnightMechanic 12-14-2002 05:52 PM

Thanks, I might go look at it. I've pulled a motor before so that's not that bad, but it's white (not my thing) and auto. Worth a look though.

Paradox 12-14-2002 06:01 PM

yeah, worth a look. i was thinking of buying it if the price was way cheap, which i thought it would be, since its not in very good condition and hasnt been taken care of very well.... it could use a new leather on the interior, or swap in some other seats..

the interior/engine are crap, the paint is pretty good tho

then again if u want to find a mint MK3 its going to cost...

i came across a clean lookin' 87T today on canadatrader.com

alotta money but its better than buying a POS you'll end up having to fix 3x a week

$6500 to a friend.

Paradox 12-14-2002 10:58 PM

shit, id up a few grand and check out that 87

it may be a 87, but it looks in mint condition, and 129 is LOW

its definetaly worth it to spend more in the begining than to have to deal with putting up with massive repaire costs in the future

keep in mind the supra is not a car for someone who barely knows how to check the oil.... you'll need to learn how to do things

my cars taught me more than i ever need to know about any car.

keep in mind my cars never broken down on me, and nothings been replaced because it needed to be done. everything has been 'modified' not replaced.

yet i had to deal with a hefty price tag in the begining.

fuzebox 12-15-2002 12:40 AM

I feel like starting a BC Supras site... Anyone think this is a bad idea?

SilverMK3 12-15-2002 01:11 AM

Hey, I wonder if he'd notice if I traded cars with him... "Where'd my Targa go? How'd my paint get shitty? Where's my Boooooooooost?!!!!!!!"

SilverMK3 12-15-2002 01:14 AM

Hey Toby, what's wrong with Raybestos? I haven't put them on yet so I can still return them... What's the price diff between these and Porterfield or TRD?

I don't want anything loud, and I'd prefer something that doesn't dust too much. I'm not really putting too much stress on my brakes - maybe in the summer but not now.

NashMan 12-15-2002 07:37 AM

stick whiht what you got really there not bad plsuy are raceing based pad will dust like mad there not to exp but you don't really need em in less yo uplan on doing high speed stop and such cause you just fade and glaze em trds wonte but they sqeel and dust but have the best bite

other wise just keep what you got plus there red and you don't wan tot weight for speacle pads to come in do you
