| Supra intercooler Q
Hey boys, how efficent is the stock MkIII intercooler? What sort of horsepower can you push through it before it can't keep up? I'm looking for an intercooler for my 200SX Turbo, and the SUpra one looks like it'd be very easy to fit, since a need an I/C with the pipes coming out the same side. Anyone got one for sale cheap? I've seen a few on Ebay for $60 US.

depends on who you talk to. the main downfall of the MKIII IC isnt actually the IC, its the piping. several people have run 12s with stock IC and hardpipes, so unless your pushing 350+ whp, it should be fine.

Choice. I've got to do all custom hardpipes anyway (only about 3 1/2 feet, viva le Nissan packaging!) so it sounds ideal. Fairly low pressure drop?

at 12 psi there is around a 4 psi pressure drop from turbo to throttle body, but across the intercooler its around .1 psi drop at stock boost (stock boost = 6.8 psi)

shawn just the run the ic you most likly not useing low comp eninge so it will do fine caus ei can't see you pushing to much psi cuase if you do that whould be crazy but knowing you you never know
one other ic to look at whould be the 1jze it bit bigger or longer i mean and has bit lesser of persure drop
just cheak on supra forums or ebay for one or parts trader
i have one but it bit beat up( has a dent on it ) and has hole in it not big but ti can be fixed and red over spray o it bit but it will do the job

I did my brakes before going up the mountain, no more squeeling - sweet. I think I scratched up my rotors pretty bad though. I could feel the grooves on it, maybe that's normal I dunno.
As to the muffler, Ryan nailed the one I was looking at. The one with the dual 3.5" outlets is what I want I think. Lordco here in Nanaimo has the dual 4" outlet one in stock and I think it looks kinda funny, It might look better once installed though.
The guy at Lordco told me I'll lose a little less low end power going from the 2.5 to 2.25" inlet and the top end will be about the same. I know that's probably not the most reliable source, as he's trying to make money off me, but it sounds right...

did you machine your rotors when you changed the pads? you really should do it, only costs about $15 per rotor around here.
so when are we having a big supra meet? march/april?
looks like this friday ill have my exhaust on, borrowing a MIG, hopefully i can get it all done in a day. i might have to rent a chopsaw too, unless one of you guys has one?

Hey,
No I didn't get the rotors machined. I had like 2 hours before I had to pick up my GF and head up to the mountain. How can u tell if they need to be machined? I don't think the grooves were any more than 1mm thick, you could just barely feel them.
What kind of muffler did u get? Are u eliminating the cat and resonator?
I'm up for a meet. Even if its just a mini one. I usually have Monday/Tuesday off.

your supposed to machine them every time you change the pads as far as i know, thats what 2 different shops told me. my rotors couldnt be machined anymore, so i bought Powerslot rotors.
im just doing DP-back i think, get rid of everything. if i feel adventerous with the welder, i might buy a short peice of pipe to eliminate the precat as well.
i work mornings sun-thurs and have school in the afternoon/evening mon-thurs, so fri and sat are the best days for me.

can't see you pushing to much psi
| There's a guy on Club S12 running one Bar (14.7) on his stock motor with a Volvo turbo intercooler. I'm going a little bit more sane, more like 10-12 PSI. Not much more sane, just a little

then the stock MKIII IC should be fine for your needs, most people only upgrade it if they start pushing higher than 12 psi. keep us updated on the progress, are you going to bring it to the minisprints?

Hey Accord Goblin,
I got my car through eBay and I gotta warn you there's all kinds of hidden costs.
- I paid $1675 US ($2680 CDN) for it from a dealership in Tucson Arizona.
- Checking the VIN history was another $20 US ($30 CDN).
- Checking the dealership's BBB record was free.
- Transporting the car from Tucson to Tacoma was $650 US ($ $1040 CDN)
- You have to EXPORT the car from the US 48 hours before IMPORTing it into Canada, otherwise you get guns pointed at you and stuff by US national guards (I know this from experience)
- I had to pay for a ferry, greyhound ticket, taxis, and food for two to get to Tacoma to pick up the car, that added up real fast.
- You need to by a paper Point A to B waiver in the States to be able to move it without plates $15 US ($24 CDN)
- At the CDN border you pay 7% GST on the purchase price converted to Canadian dollars.
- You also pay a $100 levy because the vehicle came equipped with A/C.
- If the car is less than 15 years old you have to go through all kinds of VI bullshit at the border, and you have to pay duties, ( I didn't have to do this).
- You need to pay for a VI before ICBC will insure it, and fix all the shit they find (they're hardcore picky). That was about $80 I think.
- When you insure it you have to pay 7% PST on the original purchase price and show all your import documents, etc.
Luckily my car was originally purchased in BC, then moved to Las Vegas a year later, then spent most of its life in Arizona, so all my Guages are metric, etc.
Good luck if you actually go through with buying a car from the states. I know I wouldn't do it again.
