mkiii door question how much work is required to fit in 6.5" speakers into those speaker pods on my '88T, which was made for 4" ? ( I will also have '92 door panels to put on in the future) |
depends on the size of the speaker. i have boston rally 6.5" components, and used the stock plastic backpeice from the pods, added some wood and mdf, and they fit in the stock location. but if you have speakers with a really big magnet/basket, then you might need to build and entirely new speaker pod. |
I'd actually like to get my hands on some 91-92 spkr pods, but locally, there aren't any out in the wreckers. The other big quirk is my (high-pressure) pwr steering hose.. man, the amount of ATF i can go thru :D |
look on supraforums, there is usually a few people parting out cars, you can probably find the speaker mounts. as for the ps line, have you considered getting it replaced with a braided line? i want to get my clutch line replaced. |

swet, fixed a minor problem today. i was gettin a miss around 3000 rpm, and i have to upgrade my grounds for my stereo, so i ran a 4 gauge to the block and 8 gauge to the body. no more miss. i tried sending a pic to murray, but its not goin through. |
sweet i have to do that one of these days but have not got around to it tiwn 8 gauge it pretty shitty even for stock so i going to go to about tiwn 4 gauge or maybe even 2 but tiw 4 will do good or just one 1 gues or some still have nto gotten around to it most likly just do the chassie off the batt ps clutch breaking in good now hehehe 4th gear chrips are sigh of great ness befor 3rd was hard now 3rd is just easy and 4th just price less |
yeah im alive, sorta.... been working on a project for Duane, but still waiting on some stuff to get it finished off. hopefully soooooon. Toby, why would grounding your stereo help a miss? i didnt think you were running much of a system in there yet? Ryan, you mean if you by another car it'll be another supra.. or supra engine... right? :p |
well ya ei whould buy a ne wone |
there are two gorunds, one to the block and one to the body. the one to the body hasnt been connected for a bit becuase my battery is for a different car, so i had to disconnect the body ground to reach the terminal. i figure the miss was fixed by either reattaching that, or by replacing the 13+ year old stock ground with a brand new chunk of 4 gauge wire, a new gold plated ring terminal at the block, and a platinum plated terminal on the battery. plus the platinum is shiny, and as we all know, shiny is faster, so that helped too. as for the stereo, i have to extend the positive stock wiring by about 6 inches, then once that is done, all the wiring is ready to go, just have to start building a box. |
ah i think just going to to liek be lazy and get new clamp and just run big fat 1 guage wire to the body that's better ground then enigne block any ways |
you have to ground both or the car wont work... alot of stuff is grounded on the block, the coil packs, all sensors, etc. |
it really don't matter casue the ground is all you car the oinyl resomn it grounded to you block is it easyer then have ground wires every were what i am saying is i just most likly just going to chnage the chassi wire cause the block is still gronded tot he chassi ps you car will run whiht out it hook up cau ie have started my car befor liek that |
i wanna drive my damn car! this sucks... |
