I was wondering how much it cost you in total for parts to do the MHG install (after headgasket, arp bolts, valve cover gaskets, replacement crap, etc... Including machine shop time.
Just curious, thanks. | Yeah, ok .... looks about 300 for machining (im not sure the exact cost, it was done by labor hours)
i got the ARP bolts and MHG from suprasport.com
other than that, theres a bunch of other stuff on the receit, mostly
other gaskets and hoses. the "valve grind gasket set" whatever that is, was $334.85
i also got new timing belts, a cylinder head cover and a valve switch over(?) along with new cold start injector and plug wires.
there's a shitload of other minor stuff on here, a lot of it is just cheap stuff like hoses, gaskets and such.
total for labor was 9 hours (im sure it was more than this, my car was in shop for 2-3 weeks) in total this comes to $560 labor and some labor fee's account for machining.
the final price was $2239.95 not including ARP bolts/MHG
hope that helps

well i never raised boost on my car yet, but i think with the fuel upgrade its performance is bumped up a decent amount. if you look at reg's dyno tuning for the lex/550 mod, he loses a bit of torque but gains horse power doing this.
the ECU must have learned the new fuel curves by now, the power feels better today.
hey Enraged, did you figure out what was the problem with your car yet?

no.... my uncle couldnt come over today, tomorrow afternoon probably. i took everything off except the spark plugs, i dont have a socket for them. we took out the plug from #1, and it was REALLY fouled, all black, the electrode was worn quite a bit.... my uncle talked to his freind who is a mechanic, and he thinks that i actually flooded, drying out the piston rings, so they dont seal and i lose compression. so we're going to drop a small amount of oil into each cylinder and change the plugs and wires. if thats not it, its most likely fuel, maybe a clogged fuel filter. so hopefully ill have it running tomorrow... so much for the meet tomorrow..... oh well, im goin to try to be at the minisprint on sunday.
So who is going to minisprint? Paradox? oh ya, whats your real name? mine is Toby.

well im goin to talk to my instructor atthe welding class, and see if he can teach me how to do 2.5" piping (thats what im using).
the minisprint is on sunday, if my car is running and if i can get a helmet on payday (friday) ill go. if you need a helmet, you can borrow mine, or they have loaners too. http://www.victoriamotorsports.ca/ for info, registration is at 2:30, im goin to try to get there by 2pm though.
you can check out my custom upper IC pipe. it was cheaper than buying the HKS SSBOV kit, and it goes from the throttle body to near the intake. only cost about $225, and the bov used cost me $200 about. the kit sells for more than $600, so im happy with it.

also, anyone need a filter for their turbo MK3? im goin to make my own adapter in class this week i think, then buy a universal K&N filter for about $70-80. alot cheaper than a FIPK, and it does the same thing. if anyoen wants one, i'll make one for you for cheap (liek $20 or something)
i get to play with the plasma cutter

nice!
IT LIVES! got my car running, my uncle was right, just had to re-oil the rings, and now it purrs like a kitten! i took it for a burn after i put it all back together, let it warm up for a few blocks then vvrrrrrrooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM MMMMMMMMMM*PSHHHHHT*VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM*PSHH HHHHHHT!
hehe i can't believe i lived for 2 weeks without boost! i was deprived severely!
anyways, im going to try making a better adapter tomorrow. the one i made yesterday would do, but it looks pretty crappy. one of the guys in my class suggested bondo to clean it up maybe, paint it, then sell it to someone for $20 hehe
total cost for 3 adapters: $7 for 3.5" tubing, 2" long. welding supplies (parents paid for the class) FREE! filter, $76 + tax!
much better than spending $240 on an FIPK IMHO. ill get to making a heat sheild pretty soon too i think, maybe next week.
Nashman mentioned having a little supra meet, well how about we just do it on sunday at the minisprint? 2:30 is registration, and i can see how well my pretyt much stock (aside from HKS SSBOV) can compete with your guys cars hehe. Nashman has a sweet suspension setup, id liek to see it in action.
