Victoria Planning a weekend trip to Victoria. I wanted to try out some good restaurants there, something along the lines of an equivalent to Feenies, Bogarts, Chambar, that kind of thing – nice, but not over-the-top. Anyone have any recommendations? Also, do they have anything like Stanley Theatre there where I could catch a musical or play? |
i'm going this weekend too! gonna go to the bc royal museum, wax museum, and walk around DT. as for food, we're planning on eating dinner and breakfast in the restaurant at the Westin Hotel... i hear it's very very yummy, but i'm not sure of the price range on the menu |
Cool, have fun and let me know how the menu at the Westin is like. I'm not going for another month :). I did some research on my own, and I think Chemainus Theatre is the only one in Victoria that is anything close to Stanley... |

I'm planning to go to: Brassiere L'ecole Mo:Le (for breakfast/brunch) Baan Thai Cafe Mexico Fire and Water The Noodle Box (not really a restaurant, I know hehe) Saffron Bistro or Cafe Brio (haven't really decided yet) |
I've liked pagliacci's.. but it's a bit more casual than say Feenie's Il Terazzo imo is a bit overrated but the ambience is nice. DIdn't like the food that much. One thing I always recommend is Ferris' Oyserr bar. |
Im in Victoria right now...pretty nice victorian downtown. The Emperor hotel is nice and the view of the harbour is amazing |
any more tips guys? i'm planning a trip w/ gf and i'm in calgary at the moment i used to live in van but i've only been to vic twice or more when i was a kid trans? tickets? prices? times? |
Take a horse carriage ride downtown and walk along the harbour. |

I've done a lot of research for my trip, and the gist of what I'm getting from hotel reviews is that Helm's Inn, Royal Scot, or The Coast are the top three places to stay in that price range (approx $130-150/night) in Downtown. |
Victoria..? Taking the gf there for 4 nights. Any tips? I don't want to drive there so I made a booking with helijet. Things to do? Nice place to stay? "Must eat" places? Any help appreciated. |
Stay here: Abbeymoore Manor and you two won't need to find anything else to do ;) |
Stay at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort. It has the best view of the city and the restaurant Lure is amazing. I worked there for 5 years...it's an amazing hotel. |

what's there to do in victoria? ...ya, what's there to do in victoria? from what i remember it's a pretty chill, laid back place, but i don't remember the must see spots, any ideas? thanks andrew |
Pretty much all of down town is a must see,but at night go to the clubs.Theres many 'RED JACKET' is my favorite. |
The Victoria Bug Zoo! |
they have this really good deal going on if you are going from Feb 28 - Mar 5. $9.00 gets you into all major Victoria attractions, valued at $425. it's called "be a tourist in your home town" im not sure if its restricted to victoria residents only..it doesn't say. but hell of a good deal. website for the deal http://www.attractionsvictoria.com/b...ist/index.html website for all attractions and discounted stores http://www.attractionsvictoria.com/b...urist/bat.html |
VIctoria Trip I'm thinking of a two day trip to victoria from Vancouver with my gf. Can anyone suggest things to do while in Victoria, a cheap hotel to stay in (low 100's), and whether I should bring my car with me or not. Thanks |
Just go to the usual Victoria placesl; Victoria Chinatown, Wax Museum, Legislative Building, Underwater Aquarium, Art Museum (I think they have an exhibit on Titanic artifacts?), walk down the coast, Downtown, and etc. The best thing is, they are all in the same area. There also Butchart Gardens if you are into plants and trees and etc. Red Lion Hotel is a good hotel to stay at. I think it was around $110 a night for a room with 2 beds. There's a strip club and bar around the corner from the hotel too. |
haha my gf will be THRILLED that the hotel is so close to a strip bar. But thanks for your tips. |
try the Helm's Inn www.helmsinn.com . My GF and I stayed there a night, quite cozy and very close to the Royal BC Museum and the downtown area. It was the highest rated place on tripadvisor.com at the time and was reasonably priced. |
I also stayed at Helm's Inn, but it came out to around $140/night after tax and all that, so I don't know if that is out of your budget. It's a cozy place at a great location - near the waterfront/Parliament buildings and Beacon Hill Park as well which is a nice place to take a walk at night or grab the famous soft serve ice cream cones during the day (it really IS THAT good). Helm's Inn also leaves muffins and fruit baskets (with Juice too I think) in your room every morning :). It's a nice surprise. There honestly isn't that much to do in Victoria, but since you are going with your gf, that's fine ;) haha. Me and the bf did a tour of the government buildings which we thought was interesting. It's free too. Places to eat: Cafe Mexico and Saffron Bistro are both very good. |
Wax museum is pretty boring. |
