i like it too but a bit too cool (blue) for me

ramir 07-13-2006 01:19 AM

i should've mentioned that its for a clothing line, the shot wasn't really for the model but for showcasing the clothing.

Senna4ever 07-13-2006 02:12 AM

I see I wasn't the only one shooting water droplets today.

Nice pictures Jason..

I'm not at home yet, so Ican't post any pictures up yet. Wish we stopped along the way to Calgary, but my friends didn't want to :(
Saw a really nice lake without a single ripple in the water, would of made a great reflection

its interesting, atlantis. i think you exposed reasonably well for the background. i'm not a fan of the flare, but that's unavoidable in that shot really. what i would suggest though that really bugs me when i look at this shot is all the foreground clutter (that pipe, and even more so, what i'm assuming is a rock in the bottom left)... its very distracting. a change of perspective (getting higher up, being more level with the building) would help eliminate that and possibly even cut down on the flare. maybe even placing the building further to the left in your fame would cut out the flare altogether and give more scenary in the background. this type of shit, if you have a tripod, may also be worth double exposing (1 for the shadows, 1 for the highlights) and combining

Atlantis 07-15-2006 12:26 PM

hehe...i didnt have a tripod with me...wasnt planning taking a really detailed shot...and i'm still a amature at this... :)

i think 95% of us are amateurs on here dude. its not meant to put you down, just give you some things to think about. that's the purpose of the thread

Got an early bday present today! :D A lensbaby 2.0! I would never buy one of these things myself, its a cool little accessory but lets face it you can do this in photoshop. however, it is a super cool little toy and a challenge to get used to using. also it was weird to be back in the dark ages of no meter... but kind of cool at the same time, had to try to use my intuition to guage exposure...

here is a more extreme example of the selective focussing:

still have lots of practice to get used to this thing and making workable images, but its a lot of fun. funny to see how many weird looks i got today while using it too

Meowjin 07-15-2006 08:36 PM

happy bday!

baldy 07-15-2006 08:46 PM

:lol thanks dude, but it isn't for another week and a half... when i said early gift, i meant it! :lol

I'm aware of the saturation effect, I was experimenting... and now I've decided I don't like it as much... but sleep calls.
:D
