agreed, well done senna, that's simply an amazing capture

Senna4ever 07-24-2006 06:55 PM

Thanks, guys. This new lens is awesome. Super sharp, and focuses down to 30cm.

Meowjin 07-24-2006 07:02 PM

dub.dub 07-24-2006 07:08 PM

Not bad for a wide-angle.

dub.dub 07-24-2006 08:23 PM

can u focus closer with a wide-angle lens than a telephoto one? is that the general rule?

I think so. For example, my 50mm f1.7 focuses to 45cm, 28mm-105mm to 45cm, 135mm f2.8 to 3 feet, 70mm-210mm f2.8 to 5 feet & the 170mm-500mm to 10 feet. My 50mm f3.5 macro goes down to 23cm. My Nikon 55mm f2.8 micro Nikkor close focuses to 25cm.

Depends on the lens because I know the Canon 100m macro focuses nice and close . In general sense though, yes

Senna4ever 07-25-2006 01:04 AM

^^^ Hahaha...I took the same shot today!

...but forgot I had the exposure compensation dialed to +1.5 so my pics were washed out. :(

Macros are the exception. They are built for close focusing.

remember about your horizon

also, 25 seconds for ur shutter speed is way too long as u blown out all those lights.

f/9 is ok, but try a higher f-stop next time with a faster shutter speed (faster than 25 secs)

and keep it steady and straight on whatever u have to hold the camera

I second that, the lights are way too blown out.

The first one the flower seems a bit limp, lifeless, but the colour is nice.

The second one the flower seems a bit under exposed, a bit of reflected light on there would make it seem a lot softer. Overall good focusing on this one.

Third one seems a bit overexposed to me, but it could just be a bright flower..

Hope this helps, i'm a noob myself but i've been learning
