I was in the grasslands/desert so it was pitch dark all around. That circle of light was from a city far off in the distance behind the dunes. The light near the foreground is from the tents we were sleeping in.

The iso had to be bumped a little to 400, because I was using a longer/slower manual focus lens, but I think the reason it shows up in the photo above is cause I suck at photoshop. It seems to do weird things when I resize, and change from 16bit to 8bit. I don't really know why I have to change the raw files from 16 to 8, I just know I can't save it as a .jpg until I do it, so I go with it.

Went to a couple friends' wedding this afternoon... I wasn't the official photog or anything, just snapping away from the crowd like everyone else, but I snagged this shot that just captures them SO well...

I think the photo is great. You got good depth of field, excellent lighting, and a foreground (which many portraits lack).
It changes from 16 bit to 8 bit because you're saving it as JPEG. The extra data in 16-bit files are for printing; 8-bit is for displaying on web/monitor. You can print 8 bit files and they'll look great.
